Ben’s Backdraft Barbecue — Restaurant in Waynesville

Today is August 8th 2025 me and my husband were driving through back home to Tennessee and we noticed it was the only place on the road that was open We stopped in my husband got the special which were wings for a dollar he got six of them three barbecue three parmesan He asked for a side of ranch but got blue cheese The chicken was overcooked dry and way too saucy which the sauces were good don't get me wrong maybe the best part of the meal I ordered the pulled pork ( mush with barbecue sauce on top which you have to put the barbecue sauce on ) and the loaded potato salad which I was very excited for the potato salad because I love loaded potato salad but this one was way too strong very ranchy flavor couldn't really taste anything but ranch the pulled pork was dried it was only served with a small piece of cornbread We put the sweet barbecue sauce on it which has a vinegar taste to it not bad at all overall the waitress and host was very friendly nice The service was very fast by the time we ordered and sat down outside our food was already at our tables so that tells me it's not prepared orders they're already pre-cooked. I know you guys just open in March so I know there's still a lot of courts in details that need to be worked out but all in all it was a good experience We may be back we may not Thank you...

TLDR: Easily the best smoked brisket in the area (way better than Haywood Smoke House). Ribs are great too! Great view, great bbq, Highly recommended.

The mac and cheese tastes homemade, rich, cheesy, and the perfect comfort food pairing with the meat. Everything here feels made with care, not mass-produced. What makes this place even more special is the setting. You can sit back and enjoy your meal while taking in a peaceful view of cows grazing and mountains stretching in the distance. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you slow down and really savor the food.

The first thing Ben told me was, “We know we’re not perfect, but we’re trying to get better every day.” That stuck with me.

He’s not just running a restaurant — he’s building community. He leads with kindness, honesty, and heart. 100% the kind of person and place I want to support.

Now for the food… WOW. Easily the best BBQ in the city — maybe even the whole region. You can actually taste the care and love that goes into every bite.

We had ribs, wings, beans, coleslaw, fries, and what might be the BEST cornbread on earth.

And the staff? Absolute gems. They even made something special for my picky daughter — just to make sure she left with a full belly and a smile.

Please support this place. It’s rare to find a business with this much heart AND this much flavor. They deserve all the love.
