Tavern on The Lake — Restaurant in Weatherford

Was really looking forward to trying this place Saturday 6/4/22. It's a "seat yourself" style bar & grill. We found a table by the window. Plenty of them available as the place wasn't busy. Staff standing around socializing seemed to be the theme of the day. We weren't greeted, acknowledged or served. We did make eye contact on our way in and politely while waiting at our table.

Sat for almost 20mins waiting for a server to bring waters, utensils, take a drink order, etc.. never happened. Only 3 of us at the table. Another group of 4 then arrived and sat at the table next us. They had a server come right over and take there drink order w/ an appetizer right away.. The server walked away without acknowledging us.

I understand maybe they didn't realize we were there 1st (although they did look our direction a couple times), but they could've said, "someone will be right with you" or "sorry for the wait", etc.. we would've been fine with that.

It's too bad, we always tip well. But couldn't even get service in a slow restaurant. Definitely won't give them a 2nd chance. It isn't worth the drive with known great options nearby. Big Burger in Hudson Oaks was 9mins away and saved the day! Great food...

I WAS SHOCKED BY WHAT HAPPENED!!

My wife and I were filming one of our latest YT videos and decided to catch lunch while exploring Weatherford. After the long twisty road, we finally pulled up to the tavern. It looks well-kept outside and just like a waterside tavern. Due to the location, I didn't expect much in the way of service or food. Actually, I was gonna film and move on quickly. The place wasn't busy when we walked in so we found a hightop table and seated ourselves. Our server came over and got us drinks and silverware. Our food took longer than we wanted but when it showed up it showed out! I've tried catfish poboys at several places across the country and they have one of the BEST! It's served on a hamburger bun with fresh fixings and it's absolutely delicious. Wifey ordered a turkey club and she really liked it. That's her go-to at most places but she usually doesn't finish or take the rest home. This time she did! They have a great view of the lake if you sit on the patio and the hushpuppies are really good too. We will definitely make up a reason to come...

Overpriced and under impressive on the food. This was our second time visiting since the new ownership. Side salad consisted of shredded iceburg lettuce, a slice of tomato and 2 slices of purple onion sprinkled with shredded cheese. $15 for frozen shrimp (that smelled terrible) and fries. $14 for catfish "nuggets", frozen fries and ready to eat coleslaw. Could have had a better seafood meal out of the frozen section of HEB. Server was attentive and super friendly. The atmosphere is great but the kitchen should be featured on restaurant rehab. The remodel is excellently done. I wish that the food lived up to the atmosphere. 😭 The crappie house needs the structural attention that has been given to the pub and bait shop. Hopefully, they're still a *work in progress". We will return in another year and see how it...
