So this is going to be an honest review and hopefully there is some take away from it.
For the record, I like to consider myself a burger connoisseur, from chains to mom and pop shops. In my experience, Smashburgers are beloved, especially to someone who lived in Northern Illinois, where Culvers is every where and only a couple hours from the hometown of Culvers. Point being, there was a standard I had when coming to The Spot.
Now, service was great. No complaints. Atmosphere. Wish there was indoor seating, probably would attract more businesses, imo.
Food. Here is the complaint I have with. Now for the record, the food was not inherently BAD, but it lacked imagination. I got myself the Bacon Cheeseburger. Was it bad? No. But it honestly tasted like an Oldtimer from Chilis, just smashburger form. No real seasoning in the meat. The fries? Tasted like battered fries you can find in the frozen section from Walmart. The peach shake? Tasted like basic peach ice cream made into a shake. All the while looking like they are trying to be the next Shake Shack with their branding, and the almost Five Guys Pricing.
The positives, the food wqs cooked to perfection. The slight charred edges of the meat, perfection. The fries were a perfect crisp.
At the end of the day, I really wanted to like the place. My recommendation for the owners, take a trip to Culvers in DFW, try their smashburgers. Take a to mineral wells and try a burger at Woodys burger (this will show how far basic seasonings can get you).
I will definitely come back in a month or two and see if things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBurgers, fries and milk shakes are a staple to the American Texas diet for sure and this local eatery doesn't disappoint. This is not your ordinary fast food but they do get it out in a hurry! They have a really simple menu but exicute it well. My wife and I have gone twice and get really bubbly service that leaves a smile on our faces. We've always taken our food to go. Outside seating is what you'll get around here. The burgers themselves were cooked excellent with proper seasoning to make a typical smash burger, while keeping the juicy side of it in. One time my adult daughter came with us and got the wings, she was impressed and we tried the sauce and it's homemade style. It had excellent flavor without being over powering on vinegar flavor.
Haven't got a shake yet but I cannot leave the cheese curds alone enough to think about dessert! They definitely homemade these beace there isn't a true consistency of size and the batter packs a garlic punch that Dracula would be afraid of you after.
Thank you, The Spot employees on making a small local burger joint really shine in the Brock area. Look forward to trying more on your menu...but those cheese curds cannot give...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is an honest opinion, I wasnāt going to leave one cause I rarely do but I was expecting more and was very disappointed. The burger was cooked great but had zero flavor, the fries tasted like dollar general fries out of a bag. I have spent my life trying burgers all over and it was one of the worst tasting burgers Iāve ever had. The service is great and we got our food faster than I expected which is awesome. The prices however were extreme, especially for the fries and drinks. I know itās not cheap to run a restaurant so far from a major town but itās not triple. I will try one more time just to make sure it wasnāt just the time of day it something like that. If you are going to name something The Spot it needs to be exceptional. Sonic is much much better and cheaper and thatās...
