This was a quick lunch stop on our drive west across South Dakota. There were no shady spots to park anywhere which made it difficult traveling with an animal in the summer. The ambiance was a bit dive-like. There were several leaks in the ceiling (which in hind sight makes me wonder if they should have been open).
When you walk in, the casino is to the right, and the restaurant is to the right. There is a very small dining area with a pastry counter. They have a variety of pies, cinnamon rolls and so on. (They looked great, but we did not get any.) Beyond that dining room is another large dining room where they also have a salad bar.
I ordered the taco nachos (a new appetizer on their menu as my meal). It was a large portion and exactly what I expected. Someone else ordered the pulled pork nachos. These came out a bit dry looking so we ordered extra BBQ sauce and a side of sour cream (upcharge). Someone ordered the Reuben. They said the meat was good, but the sauerkraut was a little weird. Someone else ordered the walleye sandwich at the waitresses recommendation. The sandwich was well received.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall nice little lunch stop with a good variety...
Read moreNormal breakfast food. We had a party of 7 with a toddler. My wife has celiac disease and is unable to eat gluten. The menu is NOT accommodating so my wife brought her own food...so she wouldn't get sick. We ordered a full plate of food for our toddler even though he would not be eating it all to obviously accommodate for her not eating. The issue was the waitress was extremely rude about my wife having "outside food" rather than finding out what the reasoning was. Obviously we're not part of the "local" crowd so I'm sure we don't matter. If you're from out of town or have any dietary restrictions(that may make you sick), my suggestion would be to find another place to eat because this restaurant doesn't even care enough to ask or...
Read moreListen if you don’t stop here, then you are missing out on a great gem. Small town cafe with above parr food, homemade pies and desserts. I think I read on the menu that the bread is homemade as well. I had the walleye sandwich. It was light and airy yet very meaty. The bread was soft, buttery and perfectly done. I also had the upside down rhubarb cake, yummy! The servers were friendly, and did their jobs better than a lot of servers I’ve known. Locals were in abundance and some great people watching was had. My only regret was that we hadn’t found this cafe earlier on our...
