From Family Favorite to Flat-Out Disrespectful Giovanni’s in Fogelsville used to be our go-to. From 1997 to 2012, we visited at least twice a month. Even after moving away, we made sure to bring the grandkids whenever we were back in town. Naturally, now that we’ve retired and returned to the Lehigh Valley, we were eager to bring back our cherished “pizza night” tradition.
But something has changed—and not in a good way. We came in around 4:00 p.m. on a weekday and asked to sit at our usual two-top near the window. A young blonde server told us it was “reserved for a party” and directed us to the lone table closest to the counter. Odd, considering the restaurant was nearly empty. Still, we gave her the benefit of the doubt and stayed and made the best of it.
During our entire meal, only one other party of four came in—and notably, they did not take the supposedly “reserved” table we had requested. Still, we chalked it up to a fluke.
On Friday, we came back around 5:00 p.m.—same empty restaurant, same table request, same response: “all other tables are reserved.” That time, we didn’t stay. We walked out. It became clear that, for reasons unknown, Giovanni’s no longer values our business. After decades of loyalty, we were essentially told—twice—that we weren’t welcome to sit where we were comfortable. That’s not just bad service—it’s insulting.
The food may still be good, but the treatment is enough to ruin any appetite. We won’t...
Read moreI don’t usually post bad reviews but my experience was so bad that I want to warn others. Today was my father’s 70th birthday. None of us are from the area so we asked a local where to go for good Italian food. They recommended Giovanni’s so we decided to try it. When I got to the restaurant I explained to the gentlemen behind the counter that I had baked a cake for my dad for his birthday. I politely asked if I could store the cake in the refrigerator while we ate, the gentlemen was very nice and he said he would see if he had room in the fridge. We ended up deciding just to keep the cake near us on the table. Later when it was time to cut the cake my husband asked if they had a lighter to light the candles. A lady that worked there begrudgingly gave us one. I asked her if we could also have forks and some plates. She responded rudely by saying that they sold dessert there. I guess she didn’t like me bringing a cake. I explained to her that I already asked the gentlemen if it was ok. She handed me forks but refused to give us plates. We ate the cake on napkins. I have never experienced such an inhospitable person in the food industry. We spent a good amount of money on our food as it’s not a cheap place to eat and then to be treated so poorly after spending that money feels terrible. Luckily my dad was still in good spirits and her bad attitude didn’t spoil our celebration. That said, I would think twice before...
Read moreWe’ve eaten here a few times in the past year. There was another man in the front who was friendly with customer service skills which is what kept us coming back.
So it’s been a few months but we decided to order today so we called in prior, spoke to a women on the phone and told her we wanted the 2 large pie special and mentioned that we would be eating there and will arrive in 5 minutes.
So we get there and the pies weren’t even in the oven and had to wait 20 minutes for our pizza when we had an event to attend. She wouldn’t let us purchase a 2 liter to eat with our pizza so we had to spend more buying individual bottles.
The pizza finally gets to the table, she says (we didn’t make it cause some order and say there coming and don’t show)
One pizza was well the other wasn’t and the pizza wasn’t the same as it was. The sauce tasted like they poured alot of sugar in it and the cheese was very chewy.
Its safe to say we wont be returning. Lastly my husband asked the lady with blonde hair at the counter (the one who I’m speaking of this entire time) and asked if she can box the second pie that my husband brought up to the counter.
Every other pizza place would simply take the pie and place it in the box. She hands my husband the box with the full pizza pie in his hands and walks away! Customer...
