If you have a hankering for a breakfast sandwich, a few sweets, energy soda and juice and cold bottled coffees you can think of as well as some beer and plenty of ice, this is the plane to go.
I make it a point to visit and buy numerous treats, drinks and food every time I have a hankerin for something delicious.
I don't personally drink coffee but my son and friends say it's amazing.
Plus they have packaged jerkeys of a near dozen types of wild game that you'd never taste otherwise.
And last fall, my son bought six hand made and packaged soaps. He said that were some of the best he has used.
The owners are a couple of down to earth people who don't mind my redundant inquisitive questions for directions and basic history. The young ladies that work the grill and register are so sweet that if I had a son their age I'd play matchmaker lol.
My one complaint, but not bad enough to take a star off is I'm from Brooklyn NY and we regularly eat bacon egg and cheese on a buttered kaiser roll. They make their own and they are excellent, but I think a regular kaiser would do better. But it doesn't stop me from being an animal and ordering the sandwich and eating it in the parking lot lol.
Do yourself a favor, stop in and take a look around. After you drool on the Apple cider donuts, chocolate chip, oatmeal rasin and a few other cookies, you'll understand why I have this place a five. It's not exactly cheap, or I just over buy. But prepare to pay NY prices and be prepared to love type new...
Read moreFantastic little country store. It's more of a specialty deli, really, as you can't get groceries there, but you can get fresh homemade pastries, donuts, muffins, cakes and pies and the best belly sandwiches around. They have a very nice menu of special creations. My personal favorite is the Waldorf chicken salad which you can get on a rap or a salad or a sub bun. The quality of their food is very high and they are efficient and very friendly. They carry a large selection of wine and they do have candy and chips for your sweet tooth or snacking pleasure. Very good coffee. Very good ice cream. It is worth the trip from wherever you are to check this place out. It is a quaint, authentic old time country store on the corner in Wells and even if you are there for the first time they will make you feel like they know you and you...
Read moreThe food is great... excellent sandwiches, well-filled and made on a large selection of bread and rolls. BUT a caveat: Prices on some things are not marked! I'm an old, disabled man and in my travels around Vermont and elsewhere, I collect coffee mugs. I expect to pay no more than $15 for one; a restaurant in Poultney only charged $4.00. Some have been free. But at Wells, I found a mug with the Wells Country Store logo on it, and did not think it was worth all that much. But by the time they rang up the sale, I was too embarrassed to put it back... it wasn't marked... but they charged me $43.00 for a darn coffee mug!! That's RIDICULOUS. It's not a big mug, but whoever is making them is sure getting a profit off the unaware old guys like me! Be Careful at Wells... prices may be higher...
