My buddy and I sat downstairs in the bar area and waited on almost immediately. The server was very friendly, recommended food to us, and made sure drinks were refilled. We both ordered the Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese, and they were delicious. They were served hot and fresh, and the beer cheese was also warm. It was SO good. I had the garlic parmesan boneless wings with blue cheese. They were perfectly done and tasted great. The French fries with cheese and chili are also very good. He had the Honey BBQ wings and French fries with cheese and bacon, and he loved everything he had. He's a little picky about food, too, so this is a huge compliment from him. We only had two small complaints. One was the lighting in the bar area, which was very low. I had to use the light on my phone so we could read the menu. Our eyes did eventually adjust, but we had just come in from being out in the sun at the shooting range, so it took a while. Second, there are just two restrooms upstairs, each with one toilet, and if the restaurant is very busy, the line to the restrooms can be a bit long. Those are very minor issues, though, and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much. Very rustic setting in the bar area, and the upstairs dining area is much like a historical Victorian...

Enter through the tavern door-down those old stone steps-on the left exterior of the old house (don’t bother with the redneck bourgeois upstairs).* Order a bottle of Grolsch and drink while you wait to be seated at one of the 10-ish tables in the dim and dusty basement. Take your seat when directed by the bartender and don’t bother opening the menu. Order the wings-any sauce (they’re all good)-extra crispy, with a side of seasoned cheese fries. Don’t forget the extra bleu cheese (ranch folk, venture a little) and celery. Order a water, and another Grolsch while the anticipation ascends. Hold back the tears of joy when the boats of wings and fries and celery and BLEU CHEESE (oh my!) are set before you. Dunk, dip, and slather the bleu cheese on every crispy, crunchy savory bite. Die, you’ve been to heaven.
*Note: No children allowed. If you have kids with you and can’t bear to drop them on the side of the road, stay upstairs with the rest of your bourgeois...
Read moreSo, this little slice of heaven has been marked off my bucket list. I've constantly heard my boyfriend and his family talk about the wings at this restaurant, and every time we've tried to make it out there, it's either to busy or wasn't opened at the time we wanted to eat. Finally, after two years of waiting for the right time to pop in, we got to go. The decor just put me in awe, I've never seen so many mugs in my life, I loved it. They have a variety of mugs hanging from their ceiling. The bar is small and quite. Nothing roudy at all. Since we sat at the bar downstairs, I never got the chance to check out the upstairs, but it was still a quiet, comfy atmosphere to eat at. The wings were phenomenal!!! And the fried pickles, even better. Not to mention the shots, very very pleased with Drovers. We...
