My buddy and I sat downstairs in the bar area and waited on almost immediately. The server was very friendly, recommended food to us, and made sure drinks were refilled. We both ordered the Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese, and they were delicious. They were served hot and fresh, and the beer cheese was also warm. It was SO good. I had the garlic parmesan boneless wings with blue cheese. They were perfectly done and tasted great. The French fries with cheese and chili are also very good. He had the Honey BBQ wings and French fries with cheese and bacon, and he loved everything he had. He's a little picky about food, too, so this is a huge compliment from him. We only had two small complaints. One was the lighting in the bar area, which was very low. I had to use the light on my phone so we could read the menu. Our eyes did eventually adjust, but we had just come in from being out in the sun at the shooting range, so it took a while. Second, there are just two restrooms upstairs, each with one toilet, and if the restaurant is very busy, the line to the restrooms can be a bit long. Those are very minor issues, though, and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much. Very rustic setting in the bar area, and the upstairs dining area is much like a historical Victorian...

Doing Drovers Proper, in Nine Easy Steps:

Enter through the tavern door-down those old stone steps-on the left exterior of the old house (don’t bother with the redneck bourgeois upstairs).* Order a bottle of Grolsch and drink while you wait to be seated at one of the 10-ish tables in the dim and dusty basement. Take your seat when directed by the bartender and don’t bother opening the menu. Order the wings-any sauce (they’re all good)-extra crispy, with a side of seasoned cheese fries. Don’t forget the extra bleu cheese (ranch folk, venture a little) and celery. Order a water, and another Grolsch while the anticipation ascends. Hold back the tears of joy when the boats of wings and fries and celery and BLEU CHEESE (oh my!) are set before you. Dunk, dip, and slather the bleu cheese on every crispy, crunchy savory bite. Die, you’ve been to heaven.

*Note: No children allowed. If you have kids with you and can’t bear to drop them on the side of the road, stay upstairs with the rest of your bourgeois...

So, this little slice of heaven has been marked off my bucket list. I've constantly heard my boyfriend and his family talk about the wings at this restaurant, and every time we've tried to make it out there, it's either to busy or wasn't opened at the time we wanted to eat. Finally, after two years of waiting for the right time to pop in, we got to go. The decor just put me in awe, I've never seen so many mugs in my life, I loved it. They have a variety of mugs hanging from their ceiling. The bar is small and quite. Nothing roudy at all. Since we sat at the bar downstairs, I never got the chance to check out the upstairs, but it was still a quiet, comfy atmosphere to eat at. The wings were phenomenal!!! And the fried pickles, even better. Not to mention the shots, very very pleased with Drovers. We...

You'll hear people adamantly claim other wing places are the best they've ever had... Well, they're wrong, because they have clearly never had drover's. Atmosphere is an old inn and tavern, the rooms of the house have been turning into several unique dining rooms. Anyways, about the WINGS. They are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I drive 45m to 1hr just to satisfy my cravings. They must fry them in a special oil, are they have the perfect crispiness and meatiness to them, with a distinct flavor. My favorite things to get are the Buffalo Garlic, Honey BBQ (don't get them if you don't like honey, when they say HONEY they mean it - so sticky), jalapeño bottlecaps, and the giant streak fries. Also, the bleu cheese and ranch are homemade and equally distinct and delicious in flavor.

The food was good, but they nit-pick the prices of everything. The server was kind. Our server asked what sides we wanted, that any of the Appetizers (Munchies) could substitute as a side but there may be an upcharge. So I got the chicken wrap and subbed Pretzel Sticks instead of fries. I asked for a side of ranch and they charged me for 2 small containers of ranch. They charged me full price for the chicken wrap even though I didn't get the fries and full price for the Pretzel sticks that should have been an upcharge as a subbed side. At first she said the manager could do morning about it because they didn't have a button to sub the pretzel sticks. Then I asked for a side of fries to go and the manager eventually agreed to that.

On a scale of romances to documentaries, Drover's Inn is a bodice-ripper romance. Tucked away off of Washington Pike, it's easy to miss, but it's definitely something to turnaround for. Parking is plentiful, and our group was seated quickly. While our local friends encouraged us to order the wings, I deviated for the baby back ribs, and I honestly should have stuck with the wings! The baby back ribs were dry and only saved by the sauce. Drover's Inn is so charming, and I hope to return to try the wings!
