Let's get one thing out the way now. If your planning on coming here and not familiar with the area, like us...choose your route wisely. The toll at the exit off ramp to the 66 from the 44 is a toll exit. No bills, no cards. Exact change only, $1.75.
We arrived right at opening time and already there was a line out the door and 20 people outside, so...arrive early or prepare to wait a bit. One person taking orders and ringing you up and the food comes out the window via name call outs.
Wife ordered the two meat plate chopped brisket and turkey. Sides Mac n cheese and potato salad. The sides were ok. Mac n cheese was dry and she felt, could be wrong, but said the potato salad tasted similar to the Kroger deli store bought. It was good, she says, but reminded her of store bought taste. Her friend ordered the Rednexican Nachos which looked pretty amazing and she said it was. We didn't sample it. Lots of meat. I ordered the two meat plate, sliced brisket and smoked sausage with an add half pound of burnt ends, Coleslaw and the apple pie baked beans. Enjoyed the meats and sauces very much. The brisket and burnt ends were perfectly smoked and full of great flavor. The sausage were two links but were just warm as if they'd been sitting out a bit. Tasty and good, but I would've liked them to have been heat hotter. The beans tasted really good, but....and again could be wrong, seemed out of a can with tiny bits of apple and corn added with apple pie spice and brown sugar added. I'll try to make them when we get back home next time I BBQ and see what I come up with. In all with drinks, the total was $75 and change. We've had a lot of BBQ in a lot of states and parts of this stop were amazing and parts were meh. Like any place some folks experiences will be completely amazing and other could hate it. We were overall satisfied and...
Read moreI have heard so many good things about this place and how amazing and delicious the food is and they have won many awards so I decided to try it. I ordered the Meat locker which was $82.00, it had a variety of meats and your able to choose from several sides. I can't begin to express my disappointment in the food. The turkey was dry and had no flavor, the brisket was dry, the shredded pork was dry as well. The sausages were ok but looked almost gray, the chicken quarters although they looked beautiful were also tasteless. None of the meats had any flavor of smokiness from being smoked, the meats (except sausages)lacked seasoning. The ribs were tender but lacked flavor and the baked beans were so sweet and thick and were disgusting, there were no fried options like fries or okra. The coleslaw and pickles and onions were the best of the whole meal ( any other BBQ place gives pickles, onions and jalapenos for free but is a choice as a side here) and they gave small portions also and all of their BBQ sauces are just overly sweet (even the spicy BBQ sauce) I'm from Texas where our BBQ is tender and full flavor and nothing is over powered with sweetness so I was just shocked and greatly disappointed in the quality of the food which I spent so much money on. I will say their customer service was great and the guy that took my order was awesome. I will never eat here again and I really should have gotten a refund. The people that recommended this place said the quality of their food was not how it had been before and they were disappointed as well. In a time when money is precious and eating out can be a special treat for folks this is truly a...
Read moreHello everyone. I could not go without leaving this review for these good people. I went there yesterday to pick up an order that I drove all the way from Tulsa Oklahoma to come get. I really didn't know the rules and how things went when I first arrived, so I was a little clueless on what to do but that didn't last long. The staff inside of this restaurant are so friendly and so helpful. Everybody seemed to have an upbeat attitude and everybody was so happy to help. The atmosphere seemed to be the cozy, get together with your family type vibe. I stopped at the counter after standing in the line to get my order. They advised me that I would have to take a card with an anonymous name on it to be called. My name was Mary Poppins (laughing)they came and told me that they were out of ribs and were so apologetic and helpful to please my order. I've never seen anyone so eager to please and make things right as they were . I would.also like to give a special thanks to one of the workers by the name of James. He was the absolute best after finding out that was my first time and how far I had driven to come get my order. He was so kind and helpful and made sure that everything I needed was taken care of. I would speak on the others that were working but I did not get their name due to the fact of me dealing with James most of the time they prepared my order. I ordered burnt ends, chopped beef, and hot links with the sides of macaroni and cheese, potato salad, onions, pickles, and baked beans. They really know what they're doing at that restaurant, hands down!!!!! Thank you so much butcher Stand restaurant, James and staff for the great experience. I will be...
