Buzzy's — Restaurant in Welton

Buzzy's is located near DeWitt, and immediately off four-lane Hwy 61 in the small town of Welton ( it is located on a small section of what was once the original two lane Hwy 61).

We had a nice lunch here at about 2 PM on a Wednesday. We had heard a year or two ago (from friends that live in nearby DeWitt, Iowa) that the food was good, and we were not disappointed with our first visit. The business is large, well maintained, and clean. It is popular with the locals-- there were about 10 patrons when we visited. We chatted with an 82 yr old local man for over an hour and were told that he has never had a bad meal there.

On his recommendation we tried a burger and a grilled tenderloin sandwich. The burger was large and juicy. The grilled tenderloin was twice as large as the bun, and the meat was served cut in half and then double stacked on the bun. It was tender, juicy, and very tasty. I like mine served with dark mustard, and they had it available.

The sandwiches are served ale carte -- we ordered a side of onion rings to share, and they were also tasty ( not hand made, and the usual for a bar and grill). The prices were VERY reasonable ($4.00 for each sandwich). Our soda pops ( Pepsi products) were served in the can.

Per the menu, they have a salad bar and daily specials at lunch time Monday thru Friday, and they also serve Mexican food items on Tuesdays. They do have salads available as menu items. Most sandwiches are in the $3.50 to $5.00 range. Pizza is also on the menu.

Been here 3 times and all 3 we were treated rudely. Third time was not a charm as we brought our grievances up to the owner his response was "i can't please everyone!" As he interrupted us while we tried to explain. He was so rude and loud to us everyone looked at us. We watched our food sit in the window for 15 mins. They were not busy. Cozy bar in Welton that was recommended to me for meeting up with the gals one evening. Nice place, friendly staff, yummy appetizers and Taco Tuesdays! You can sit at the bar or they also have tables. Play a game of pool or two while you're there if ya want! Definitely recommend and will...
