Iccara Pizzeria, a local pizza shop that has its heart in the community. They have gone above and beyond to be a helpful presence in West Caln, offering free lunches to kids who may have gone hungry during the height of Covid. They ran promotional pizza rocks hidden in local parks, offering free pizzas during the depressing times when Covid fear was at its peak, lifting spirits and giving people a fun hope. These are good people, community people, and also great chefs! The Pizza, the Stromboli, the Hoagies or Subs are fantastic. For years the spot where they are located had some pretty awful food. As a nearby resident, I was elated to finally have a pizza shop that made truly Italian pizza, and fresh well made sandwiches and bread. Growing up around the cheesesteak capitol of the world I aways like to try new places and considering this place is one mile from my home I was certainly eager to give it a try. Without getting involved in the never ending "Best Cheesesteak" debate I will say this place did not disappoint and will be my future go to for a good local cheesesteak. On one occasion while waiting for my order the owners saw me eyeballing the pizza and kindly offered me a free slice to try. It was exactly how I like it. Not greasy with a perfect crust that was slightly crusted on the bottom. We've ordered from Iccara pizza many times since they've been opened -however, we think we are done ordering with them. Each time we order, the pizza is so inconsistent. There's no special taste, and it's very mediocre pizza. This weekend, we ordered a large pizza, and it was super small, not even enough for full size pieces (see photos - of the difference of the two large pizzas!). When we get it delivered, the cheese is never on the pizza and they are always 25+ minutes later then they say. We are always told 45 minutes, but very rarely does the pizza come before we reach an hour and 15 minutes after. The portion sizes for their hoagies and especially their salads are terrible for the price. A handful of lettuce and 4 croutons for $7+ - no thanks. They need to make some kind of...
