I really want to like Scooby’s but the more I go there and think about it the more I dislike it. Firstly, the prices for certain things is insane ($5 for a plain small shake is crazy). Yes they offer coupons but that’s just a money grab as many people do not know about the coupons. Second, I don’t find anything amazing about any of the food i’ve tried there. I’d much rather go to portillos and get better service, food, and save money. Third and lastly, everything about the ownership and employees seems incredibly unprofessional. I’ve been overcharged there and didn’t receive my receipt. When i asked for it the person who rang me up said that because i paid with card they couldn’t print a receipt for a closed transaction. So i explained the situation to someone else working and asked for my refund. To which this person wanted to refund me in terms of an in-store credit because it was “easier” for them. Another time I went almost an hour before they closed and they had already closed. I sat there for several minutes and someone walked out and ignored me. The last thing that I have to say about the owensrship is the situation with the drive-in movie theater next door. Obviously nobody knows the specifics besides scooby’s and the theater but obviously the situation is bad enough that the theater felt the need to ban scooby’s food. You would think that Scooby’s would do as much as they could to make the experience at the drive-in as good as possible considering how few of them there are now. It might seem nice that the owner of scooby’s comments back to us asking for pictures of how their lights are hindering the experience but we shouldn’t need to provide evidence. So many people complain and they continue to do nothing. If i was scooby’s i would do my best to team up with the drive-in and sell my pizza puffs and stuff at their snack stand. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because their shakes are really good and definitely worth it when they go on sale. If you do go there MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR A RECEIPT to make sure you aren’t overcharged because it seems like they do that purposely knowing that most people won’t...
Read moreLots to share but let me start off by say worst customer service ever. I have been comimg to this place for years but not anymore! Bait and switch, lies, name calling, racial profiling all found at scooby's. AVOID at all cost especially if your BLACK.
Pizza puff good but not worth the hassle. Charged almost $20 bucks for two "grilled cheese sandwiches " one pizza puff, one med drink! Only came here because the website stated there were specials. Look at the screen shot of their website!
FYI you can't combine speicals.....They let you order and take your money before they tell you this. Then claim there are signs all over stating this. Well here's another sign for you DON'T EAT HERE! I called them out on the inconsistancies very polite and was still met with rudeness, anger and hostility.
Before I even got my order I asked to make a change, was met with this direct quote "no the grill cheese is already made so no changes" The customer is not always right here, guess they want to be like the wiener circle.
Please please please save yourself the time and the money avoid at all cost. Oh and they took a pick of me eating the pizza puff because I told them I was writing this review....if you payed for food was hungry and not allowed to change, you'd eat it too right?!? Well I only ate the pizza puff because like I said that was good. Look at the slopy sandwiches they try to pass off as grill cheese. It was cold, hard, and gross one bite and I was threw.
I would have taken a pick of the receipt but they refused to give it to me! They did threaten to call the cops on me. I'm sure West Chicago PD has better things to do. This place been around for decades and I don't understand how. THANK YOU for taking the time to read all this and have a...
Read moreSome food items are decent, but all of their stuff is OBNOXIOUSLY OVERPRICED. Like, not even competitive with ANYBODY else, except for maybe Wrigley Field prices. It's almost like they're punk-ing you, but some people aren't understanding that.
(NOTE: To some of the clueless people defending this: This is NOT just "regular inflation pricing post-Covid." Their prices were out of the norm 10 years ago. This is GOUGING at it's worst - with some taxing policies bordering on possibly illegal.)
A regular hot dog is 4.99. Large fry is 6.99 (Large cheese fry is 10.50 I believe!) - those examples alone should tell you all you need to know. If you want peppers on your dog or any sandwich, it's 2.00 extra. So your regular hotdog (4.99) with peppers (2.00) plus tax (almost another dollar) will put you at almost $8.00. If you use a credit card or debit card, add on another "fee". The hotdog is nothing special either - comes from a standard supplier. Beef Shack in Bartlett on Tuesdays has hot dogs for $1 (limit 2 - but $1 each - and they are quality dogs!)
I would ONLY recommend going here for the very rare "specials" (i.e. Italian Sausage for 1.99), but still be prepared to be charged tax on the 'full item price' (I question if that is even legal), as well as other mysterious fees. Add peppers or a fry or drink, you're gonna end up spending a bundle.
Cannot stress enough to be weary of all their shenanigans with enormously GOUGED prices, taxes, hidden fees. Better to just give your business to practically any other hotdog stand in the area, I guarantee you every one of...
