-Update January 2024- I have been away from the Suburbs that I did not know my favorite pizza in West Chicago is under new ownership. What happened to Joe? The people were very welcoming and the place is very lively. This is a good hangout place. It seems like the pizzeria now serves more food options though I didn't really browse the menu. I get now the reviews that I have read after my surprise. I was told that the pizza I will get is still the same pizza that I loved. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I only order a whole Jersey pizza and a slice of other kind in the past. The friend I share this pizza with only eat pepperoni and/or sausage pizza and Jersey pizza was perfect. It has this type of pepperoni and sausage that we love. It made the pizza special apart from the signature Jersey style pizza dough…which is the best lol When I opened the box of pizza when I got to my destination, the excitement I always have while looking forward to the first bite did not last. The dough was not bad, good under carriage—- a bit crispy and chewy at the same time. The look of the pizza is different as the pepperoni was thinner than I remember it was and sausage was crumbled not the sliced that we get the happy bites whenever we chew on it. Not sure if it was the same sauce, too. Don’t get me wrong, the pizza was decent and did not taste bad. It was just not as special as it used to be. I did not get the ā€œhappy biteā€. In the past, I’d drive an hour just to have a taste of this pizza but right now, I am not sure. If the old ingredients are back, I’ll definitely try to order again. I hope Joe and his family are okay. -April 2023 Review: I swear I meant to take a photo but we ate it all before remembering about the pic. This is my favorite pizza outside Chicago. Everything’s great and ingredients are of high quality. On top of that, they are always friendly. I just wish they would offer a discount if I buy 8 different slices from their display (because I love them all) I’ve always wanted to do that but will be costly. I also wish they will have packets of parmesan cheese and liquid hot sauce available to go. Otherwise, it is always worth the 40 minute one way drive. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Paid a visit on August 2nd for the first time. Loved the general ambiance with its patriotic memorabilia and internal decor, which gave it a pleasant and nostalgic atmosphere. Displayed on trays behind a glass facade is a variety of different pizza slices. I tried the sausage, pepperoni, and margarita slices. The margarita slice was quite elegant and was absolutely my favorite slice, with the sausage slice being a very close runner-up. Loved the foldable, droopy, cracker-thin dough with its superb crunch. It had sweet, savory, and delightfully tangy pizza sauce, which was a wonderful blend of fragrant tomatoes, garlic, and herbs. The crust was perfect and was both crunchy and faintly chewy. The aromatic, succulent, and dense mozzarella slices were perfectly spaced apart and set atop a layer of that amazing pizza sauce with chopped fresh basil generously sprinkled all around the pie. The sausage was a perfect, juicy, meat and herb blend that harmonized the entire slice into a delicious, heavenly nirvana. The pepperoni was also pretty good. They were all fantastic, and I'm looking forward to trying out the other different slices. Each slice was nice, and for 5 bucks thrice, you get a savory, superb, satisfying meal. Edit: Overall, this has been a fantastic culinary experience. I will betray my nature as a lifelong northside Chicagoan and humbly admit, without any shame, that I now prefer east-coast style pizza over any variation of pizza that the Second City has to offer. But with that said, the sudden spike in their prices makes The Slice Spot significantly less desirable. I was a habitual weekend patron for the past few months, but with their prices increasing recently, perhaps a visit once a month, if that, may be a more financially viable option. Cheers, Slice Spot, but happy trails for now. I'll see ya when I see ya.

I seldom write reviews about pizza places as it’s pretty hard to screw up pizza. Yes, some are better than others, but seldom are they inedible. That said, this review is 100% factual with no malice in its posting. Visiting my daughter for the holidays, we decided with all the holiday cooking of the past few days, that ordering pizza by the slice sounded quick and convenient. I ordered the capri slice. Basically it’s a caprese salad on pizza crust. Of course, after ordering my pizza he was told they didn’t have any. Since my son-in-law was getting to pizza for us, he was put on the spot when they said they could make something close. What I got was a thin crust with scant sauce and a thick layer of minced garlic (from a jar). I love garlic, but this was gross. Then they added a very small piece of fresh mozzarella and some raw underripe tomato. It was inedible. Very disappointing. One bite and to the garbage it went. They also shorted the total order but my son-in-law is waiting for the credit card to reflect the charge so he can dispute it. Not sure where all the good reviews came from. I question their validity.
