We stopped for dinner 430ish on a Friday, the place was very clean and friendly. The menu was a specialized menu with a bunch of customer recommended #1s, it was very hard to choose what meals we would be selecting off the menu due to the whole menu was packed with excellent dinner choices. I settled for the Meatloaf special off the house special board (Amazing), and my wife chose the Chicken Picata (Amazing), these are two of most recommended dinner choices by the house and a few friends of ours. We both ordered the House Merlot with dinner which was a good choice on our part (perfect) along with the wine the house places a large flip top bottle of ice cold water on your table for you to drink at your will. Paired with our meals were a side of mashed potatoes and cooked carrots with a side salad (all were perfect). If all of this amazing meal wasn't enough, we had to order the Zattola homemade ice cream over the house made brownie for dessert... everything was way to good to not finish... We left this place absolutely stuffed, and pleasantly pleased with our experience... one side note I would have to say if you chose to go there, please have a conversation with your servers and staff, we spoke to an older gentlemen who I still don't believe he is in his 70s, he was one the most kind, and personable staff I've ever encountered at a restaurant, he made us feel like family and like he knew us for ever, he stated how the food is prepared and the history of the recipes, you could tell he absolutely loves this place along with the owners and he firmly believes in the quality this place provides. The food was definitely enough for us to go back, but just having the small interactions with the gentleman makes me feel that we will absolutely go back... Im sure anyone who has been to this place and has interacted with this gentlemen could probably attest to what I'm saying, as he spoke to everyone... the world needs more people like him in it!!! Well done Zattolas...
Read moreEmbarrassingly bad service. We could tell there would be trouble as soon as we sat down. Most restaurants give you a greeting and ask what drinks you would like. Instead, we sat for 10 minutes with half the number of menus we needed (?). The waitress couldn't seem to locate enough menus for our table. There was only one other party in the dining room. We finally requested menus; that is when she said she was trying to find some. Another ten minutes later, we were just ready to leave. The service was unreasonably slow in merely taking our order. We finally placed our order after a half hour in a relatively empty restaurant (only three tables occupied then). It took about 20 minutes more for merely one soup and one salad. We started to notice the waitress was prioritizing a large party of 8 in the dining room and not paying much attention to us. This behavior continued for the rest of the visit. If Zottola's cannot provide service to the limited number of guests it had on what should have been a busy Friday night, we wondered how it operates when busy. The waitress continually serviced the large party of 8 and then repeatedly turned away from acknowledging our table when she came out into the dining room. It was downright rude. She did not even bring out our food. Someone else did. Such a shame, because the food was okay. This was only our second time at the restaurant, but it was the last. Our first visit was great. We noticed another couple that came in at the same time we did seemed to leave without getting any food. We wonder why. Our visit took just short of 2 HOURS. Because this older waitress ignored our table in favor of a party of 8 in an empty dining room, we will ignore Zottola's as a food option in the future. We...
Read moreBased on the reviews and the fact that "reservations are recommended", we had high hopes for this restaurant. We started with the Beans and Greens as the appetizer, which happens to be one of my favorites. I didn't get a photo of it, but imagine campbells beans and bacon canned soup, with a little spinach thrown in. That's exactly what it looked and tasted like. For entrees, I ordered a special - a pulled beef sandwich with au jus and fries. My husband ordered the Saxonburger (their signature burger). My sandwich arrived with no au jus sauce and when I asked, I was given a small container of thick brown gravy which tasted like the kind you buy in a jar. I asked for ranch dressing for the fries. It was too watery to stick to the fries and had little taste. My meal came with a small container of something... my husband and I both tasted it to try to figure out what it was and all we could come up with is shredded cooked cabbage. If it was supposed to be a slaw... they forgot any seasoning or sauce. It was literally just bland cabbage. My beef sandwich had no seasoning or salt and was quite bland. My husband"s "signature burger" was supposed to have alfredo sauce on it, which I assume is what made it the signature burger, but it came without. That might have given the burger some flavor but without it, it was as unseasoned and bland as my pulled beef sandwich. It's almost as if they don't use any seasoning or salt in the kitchen. Even the fries did not have any salt on them. I can assume that we just made poor menu choices because the place was busy, so they must be popular for a reason, but my husband and I did not have an experience that would make me...
