Decided to stop at DD today with a friend and grab a cup of coffee. He order a regular large coffee, extra light and extra sweet. I, on the other hand being a keto-loving aficionado, also ordered a large coffee however, mine was with almond milk and no sugar. A very nice young lady took our order. It was easy to see that there was a slight lack in understanding on both our parts but we seemed to have surmounted that and received our order along with a half dozen donuts my friend order. It has been many years since I have gone to DD and things were obviously a tad different. As the coffees were set down on the counter there was no determination as to which was which so I asked which one had the almond milk. I was directed to a small label on the cup and handed the one that was supposed to be mine and believed it to be the almond milk one as it had been handed to me. I had no intention on drinking it until I got home to add my own sweetener. My friend however did taste his and merely thought it hadn't been made extra light and extra sweet which is apparently very common when he orders coffee. He asked for more cream and added more sugar and left satisfied that all had been taken care of. Once I got home and went to add my sweetener I noticed that the cup I had been handed, there was no mix up on the way home, was very light which is rather unusual when ordering a coffee no matter what type of milk/creamer you order...so...I took a sip and sure enough it was not my coffee. Now I realize that I do have some accountability by not double checking the little sticker at the bottom of the cup but in my defense I 'assumed' that wasn't necessary since I was handed the cup I supposedly ordered, keep in mind the stickers they use have a bit of info besides what was ordered and I needed to take a few seconds before I saw where the info was. I was very disheartened as I was really craving that cup of coffee since I don't normally drink it. So...anywho...it is a shame that we have lost the personal interactions between customers and servers, in this case, and really all other interactions due to technology. Now do I blame the small difference in understanding, do I blame myself for not double checking that sticker despite being given the correct cup, or should I put the blame on DD for creating servers that are more automatons than people and relying on small stickers placed at the bottom of a cup to ensure a happy customer. I think all the above played a role and I, unfortunately, did not get to have my very much desired cup of coffee...lol! Although the above is true with some added drama it was all in fun hopefully no one feels their 30 seconds were wasted. For the more straightforward review...the place was very clean, we were waited on as soon as we made our way to the counter despite seeing a long line at the drive-through as we left. All of their donuts were fully stocked and I assume fresh as there were no complaints from my friend. When he asked for the extra cream he thought he hadn't received they were gracious and quick to help. Of course the prices are exorbitant for donuts but that isn't this particular DD's fault. Probably the only thing that was a tad bothersome was as we left we had to drive back around the drive-through line in the lane marked as 'exit' however, there was barely enough room in my rather small car to get past the other vehicles waiting. If I hadn't had a car which barely made it past we would have had to wait in that line as the last vehicle which could have been problematic especially since I purposely went inside to avoid such a long line. Also...I am a very patient person unlike many other people I have met and I can only imagine their behavior especially if running late to work or elsewhere. For the moral of my story, please don't hesitate to go to this DD however...look at the silly sticker at the bottom...
Read moreI went in yesterday around 6am to store number 352029 at 1671 Crown Point Road West Deptford, NJ 08086. I bought a coffee and sat down. I had an interview for a teaching job through my phone. I started the interview with headphones and a minute in the manager came over to tell me there was a 15 minute limit for sitting, and then I would be loitering. I indicated I bought a coffee. He said yeah only 15 minutes and pointed to a "no loitering" sign. I told the manager I am in the middle of an interview, and the manager told me this is not a place for interviews. I had to tell the interviewer I would call them back. The manager was trying to tell me it was Dunkin Donuts policy to have the 15 minute limit, and if he didn't enforce it, corporate would see me sitting on camera and complain to him. He told me it was to keep the dining area from being overcrowded. I obviously didn't believe this and told him he has a choice and to not pretend it's a corporate rule and that this dining area is empty and is almost always empty. I was really in shock. I thought I was at a normal cafe/restaurant where I was allowed to sit and enjoy my coffee and use my phone. I told him if this is really the case, I won't be coming back to Dunkin Donuts and again and I would provide a review about this experience. I was already 7 minutes into my 15 minute limit so I stepped outside with my backpack. I realized I needed to quickly get back to this interview, so I went back in and asked another worker if I could stay for 40 minutes and then I would be out of their hair forever to which they said yes. I was able to finish the interview and then left.
I was in shock and couldn't understand. I couldn't understand what problem I was causing. The radio and tv were way louder than my conversation. I was dressed well and bathed so I don't think I was creating a negative environment. I was not taking up too much space. I never take supplies from the store. I'm at a loss.
Maybe the third time I visited back in August/September, the 50-year-old worker came up to me and asked, "Why are you here?" To be honest, it was a little rude, but I thought maybe English wasn't his first language so I thought it was by accident. I answered "I like to study and look at career opportunities here." Him: "Why don't you do this at home?" Me: "I don't have WIFI at my sister's house." Him: "Why not?" Me: "My sister can tether Wifi from her phone but my reception is really bad there." On the surface these questions are quite rude, but I didn't take it personal because I thought it was just a language/cultural barrier. Maybe a few weeks later I went around 7pm and the manager told me the dining room was closed, even though the store hours went until later. Especially in August/September, I very often had the experience of sitting at the front waiting to order because the workers were busy with the drive thru. The impression I get is this location is that it's all about the drive thru and they don't really want to have a dining area. I always feel I get a cold reception which before I chalked up to a language but now I understand was intentional. Once again, I don't understand what...
Read moreI live down the street and came here everyday sometimes twice a day practically since they opened up. I always get the same thing an iced coffee with a ton of hazelnut In it. The staff would sometimes know my order as soon as I talked in the speaker In the drive thru because I come there so often. And although my order may be annoying because of the extra hazelnut I always tip because of it. As time went on the old staff members started to change and more and more new people came in and honestly seemed like over night it's just all new people. I started going less and less cause of the stupid problems. (Taking forever, coffee never right, ect) so I go today for a coffee and I go to drive thru, get the same thing as always. there was no hazelnut and just cream and it tasted like crap. So I park, lug my son in his Car seat inside. Stand there forever, even the lady behind me was like "have they waited on you yet? No? Oh my god" but I'm very patient and nice because I'm in the service industry. Finally she says hi , I say very polite "hi I just went through the drive through and they forgot the flavor, can you please add some hazelnut in here?" She says "what?" I repeat myself. She gives me one of the dirtiest looks I have ever received, takes the coffee while saying nothing and just giving me that horrible look, returns still with the same dirty look, hands me the coffee still says nothing. I say thank you and I get in return the same dirty look. definitely won't be...
