Burger King — Restaurant in West Gardiner

I visited this Burger King for the first time last weekend. The customer service was great and the condiment/drink area was clean and well stocked. The prices were extremely high which I expected as it's right off the interstate. I ended up paying the same amount for only 2 people as what I would normally pay for 4. If everything had been good with the food I would have given 4-5 stars instead of 1 star.

Now, here's the reason for the 1 star rating. I'm a vegetarian and actually get really sick if I eat meat. Even before officially becoming a vegetarian, I figured out that my body literally cannot break down meat the same way most other people can. I choose Burger King over other fast food places specifically because of their impossible whopper and the fact that they don't use meat fat in their fries. I've gotten the impossible whopper many many times from multiple different Burger Kings and never had a problem with it. The impossible whopper is actually pretty delicious normally! You can eat a whopper without meat while your friends/family still get their meat options. Win win. So on this day I got my usual impossible whopper, and my daughter who was with me at the time got a regular whopper. Both are labeled as what they are on the wrapper. So I ate my impossible whopper and my daughter ate her regular whopper. I noticed that mine was a bit tough and chewy which I've never had happen before. I dismissed it and thought nothing of it until an hour or two later when my stomach started to feel really horrible and almost like a heartburn type of feeling but way worse. Then I ended up puking, and not to get into too much detail, but it looked/felt like it may have potentially been meat.. After quite a few trips to the bathroom, when my stomach had emptied, it started to feel quite a bit better. I ended up having a headache the entire next day which I imagine was probably from whatever parts of that burger my body had already digested before the rest came out. Now, I don't know if maybe the person that made it may have accidentally put the real whopper in the wrong wrapper on accident, or if that impossible whopper was really old or what. I came in at around 4:15am with my road weary cranky son. He wanted to look at the fans in the travel center. My son is autistic and ceiling fans and french fries being together in the same place is like Disneyland for him. So we walk up to the counter and are happily greeted by Shane then we order fries which are not available at this time as it is breakfast and I settle for hash browns. When the hash browns are given to us my son sees in the bag and loses it. I mean full meltdown, he doesn’t understand why somewhere that always has fries doesn’t have them now. Shane pops up like a superhero and says “would you like some fries?” And goes out of his way to make a single order for my boy. Now I know he’s not supposed to do that, he did it anyway. He was also very calming to Will (my son) he spoke directly to him as an equal and brought him back to “normal”. This kind of person is rare and wonderful, and I thank him very much. I went into this location for lunch, did not have enough money on my debit card, I had no cash on me. So i canceled the order, they said they would refund me my $18.30 for a chicken sandwich meal. The girl told me it will take 24 to 72 hrs for processing, well 72 hrs later they never refunded the money, I tried calling the location 35 times and the phone is not available at this time please call back at a later time... then I used their contact me on the website and left a detailed message 5 times, no one called me or messaged me and now it's been over 7 days now it says they will not do a refund over 7 days old. I tractor trailer and can not get back to that location. Burger King has gone down the hill.. I can see now why they have bad reviews now. Never been so disappointed in a Burger place then I am rite now....
