While staying at an Air BNB in Mount Joy, we visited Jake’s on Main twice. The first time, I had the apple maple sausage hash with squash, beets, and home fries and my husband had the pumpkin pancakes with a side of eggs. The hash was mmm good and every time I bit into a piece of squash, I got caramelly goodness. I topped it with scrambled eggs, but the sausage was a huge standout also. Very lean and tasty in perfect proportion to the rest of the dish. I was so-so about the beets, but I know they’re good for me, so I ate them.
My husband said the pumpkin pancakes did not need syrup. There was a buttery whipped cream on top which was a perfect complement to the pancakes. He wasn’t sure what he like best - the pumpkin pancakes or the next days meal, the mushroom omelet with home fries. He said the mushroom omelet was also delicious and very cheesy. The big piece of wheat toast that was included with the omelet was not like your normal, boring wheat bread - it had sunflower seeds and other seeds that made it very chewy and satisfying.
I had the Croque Madame on the second day, which was sourdough bread topped with ham and Gruyère cheese that was covered with a Gruyère sauce and eggs your way. Very delicious and filling.
The ambiance is what brought us back too. They have the friendliest and kindest servers I have ever met. They were extremely busy the first day at around noon, but the one server handled it with grace and never left us hanging.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jake’s on Main for a great food and...

So, a) I'm really picky and b) when I see a local place with reviews near perfect, I'll go out of the way to 'see'... Summary: Perfect road side place for a well-made breakfast and good American coffee. Servers were EXCELLENT!!! Go here if for no other reason than to support good local businesses that are as rewarding to frequent as they SHOULD be! In a more "behind the curtain" vein...how hard is it today to find a restaurant that uses good tableware??? Good choices there. Be rrreeeal careful you don't include ANY shell in the a.m. eggs...at home OR in the commercial kitchen. IF (and granted, I DON'T know your local economy or scales but...) IF you were a single dollar less expensive on your breakfasts and fifty cents cheaper on your coffee, over the next year, that alone would increase your a.m. traffic by 40%...once word got around you made the effort AND you didn't brag on social media that you did it. Good future, good...
Read moreI come here very often and I love the food. I think this place has become very popular over time because of its twist on American foods. As the restaurant becomes less of a small business and has more people, it needs to incorporate a reservation system because trying to get in for brunch and waiting time becomes impossible. My friends and I ended up waiting closer to 2.5 hours from the moment we got there until we got our food on a busy day once due to a couple miscommunications and mistakes (not necessarily on their part) it’s just the fact there is not a reservation system and the restaurant has become too close for comfort which resorts to many families on busy days leaving and choosing another place. I love this business and I love that they’re popular but with popularity comes the need to have an effective reservation system.. not just name. A phone number and proper wait time would make this place much more seamless. They are severely understaffed and it shows. My friend ordered just an omelette, nothing on it, and it took upwards...
