We usually order from Taffy Town but found the opportunity to visit the store when we were traveling for the holidays. I had placed an order online and received an email warning that my order might not ship in time for Christmas and it gave a phone number to call if I wanted to cancel it. I called the number and it was picked up by a real person who was polite and helpful. We decided to make the hour drive to the store instead of gambling on shipping and she was able to modify our order without a problem. The store is small but had everything I've ordered from the website. The employees seemed happy and helpful. One perk for going in person is that you can grab a bag and fill it with whichever and however many flavors you choose from bins. On the website you're limited to larger quantities of each flavor and more like 5-10 flavors that you have to choose from the 80 available. This can be a tough decision that might lead to arguments and debates with your spouse! "Can we eat 3lbs of taffy? Should we?" All of the flavors I've seen on the website seemed to be available. I've never tried a flavor I didn't like so you can't go wrong there. This time we tried the taffy bombs and they have the same great flavor only in a meringue cookie-like ball! We've done a direct side by side comparison of this taffy and Schriver taffy from New Jersey and we found we liked the flavor and texture of Taffy Town better. My only complaint at the time is that the minimum order for free shipping is a bit high. $100 worth of taffy is a whole lot of taffy even for our family of 8. This will limit me to only being able to order for the holidays when we'll have guests to share with. This is a bummer as a shipment of taffy has been my go to gift for a few of my far flung relatives back when shipping was free. It would be reasonable to see the minimum order set at $50. On the bright side, after I placed my order I received a 15% off coupon...
Read moreWorking My Way Up to a Five My family, friends and I all love Taffy Town taffy. So far, I've tried at least 15 flavors and haven't found even one that I don't like. Favorites as of now are Buttered Popcorn, Eggnog, Cinnamon, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Malt. I just ordered five new flavors, so I may need to update later.
I would have rated Taffy Town 5 Stars except for two things: 1.) I ordered an assortment assuming I would get equal amounts of 5 flavors; however when my order arrived, there were only 2 pieces of one flavor (I really liked that one) and an excess of another flavor (which was good, but not in my top 10). There were equal quantities of the other three flavors. When I wrote to the company, I never received a response. 2.) I placed another order which was supposed to come with a free 4.5oz bag of the Flavor of the Month that I like very much. Instead they sent a free 3-lb bag of Red, White & Blue (not sure about the name) which would have been great if I liked any of those flavors.
If customer service improves, I will definitely change my rating to 5 stars. This candy is so soft and flavorful it puts other brands to shame. Let me be clear, customer service is the only aspect of this company that is less than excellent. I will continue to buy Taffy Town taffy because I think it is absolutely the very best...
Read moreI manage a hotel in a town that is known for its cantaloupe, so I decided to give small gift bags of cantaloupe-flavored taffy as a thank you to our members. Before committing, though, I bought a 1-lb bag to try it out.
The taste was pleasant, but I didn't feel I was really getting the flavor of cantaloupe. However, anyone I had taste it blind immediately identified the flavor as cantaloupe, so I'm all good with that.
The taffy was nice and soft and sweet and had that perfect salt water taffy character to it. I thought it was just a tad expensive at first, as I looked at other placed charging less, but with Taffy Town's free shipping compared to the shipping prices of the other places, the price of Taffy Town's candy is very competitive. I plan to be buying...
