Bottom Line (on top): Semi Private club that treats non members like second rate customers. Skip Westwood and play 3 Lakes or the South Side course.
I was in Pittsburgh for a wedding my girlfriend was in. She was busy all Saturday getting ready for the early afternoon wedding so I decide to wake up early and sneak in a quick 18. The wedding was at 2pm so I knew if I wanted to play 18 and get to the church on time I would have tee off by 7am or so. I arrived at the course at 6:45 to an empty parking lot and a locked pro-shop.
I hit a few putts and debated if I should just tee off and pay at the turn. I decided to wait it out. At 7:30 the pro-shop attendant final showed up. I introduced myself and explained that I was in a rush to catch a wedding and that I was hoping to get out right away.
The pro-shop worker, responded simply with, "can't do it". I am immediately thrown into a state of shock and bewilderment. "What do you mean you can't do it? I am the only one here!" After which he informed me that the clubs policy is to reserve play for "members" until 8:30 am. I thought surely they would make an exception I was a single and if I tee off right away I would hold no one up, not to mention there were no other customers.
What I realized later after talking to some of the Pittsburgh Natives that attended the wedding, is that this course is semi private. Apparently they have been struggling to stay in the black and as a result opened the course to the public while retaining private members. The problem with this is that they treat the public golfer like a second class customer. AVOID...
Read moreVery dissappointed. Been there before and was very satisfied. 1st of all servers were all young and to busy playing with their phones, talking to each other well basically lazy. Food was cold, salty, tasteless, didn't come with all that it was suppose to come with (i.e. special sauce with crab cakes etc...), asked for ketchup and they said they didn't have any. Really? We had tags saying what we ordered and they what couldn't read? I specifically asked for bread and we didn't get it till dinner was almost over. I asked to "Please" don't take my food because I was waiting for the bread and sauce. Went to bar came back and food was gone. When questioned it, I was told sorry can't replace it. I paid and never ate it all. Everyone complaining about the service, taste, how all food was cold, and how delivered. Some people didn't get a meal at all. Because a fundraiser no one said anything to the host. What a dissappointment. All costs should be refunded so they can donate to Altzhiemer. I feel horrible for host who was doing the right thing. Westwood should be ashamed of themselves. Step up and do...
Read moreLove the course, It is very well maintained. The pro shop is very accomodating to small and large groups alike. I am pretty sure the restaurant and bar are privately owned, not part of the golf course, I was not crazy about the food or bar, wait staff is bad. I am a little concerned how the course will be affected by these "HOMES" being put directly on the course. I heard it will no longer be an 18 hole course, but a 9 hole. Wished the owners of the place would have reconsidered these "HOUSES" being built, I think they just ruined a...
