Have to wonder if the five star reviews are not from family members because we did not find it to be an experience we would ever choose to visit again. The new atmosphere is brighter with dark walls being painted white - everything else is the same as it was when this was the Huntsman. Upon walking in, we stepped (actually tripped) right into the dining room because the second door that seperate's was propped open. Not a good idea due to health reason, bugs etc. but also because people that are already dining cannot help but be interrupted - atmosphere is not intimate, quaint or soothing. Service was prompt, with drinks and warm bread being served - the bread was actually the best part of our meal. Party of four, we ordered our food - it seemed to take a very long time to prepare, although the place was almost empty. The "signature burger" was disgusting; a large flat paddy with brown gravy and what looked and tasted like boiled onion pieces - No lettuce, No tomato, No pickle nor coleslaw - for that price, I would have expected all or at least one of those extras. Meat was tasteless - nothing like the burgers we once ordered at the Huntsman. The paddy reminded me of those OnCore meals in a heat up tin that my mother put on the table for dinner to feed our family for cheap - and it tasted just a badly. The two chicken dishes were additionally tasteless; one would think the sauce would be something that one would want to dip in bread but no, it had little flavor and the chicken they are purchasing was tough w tendons. Even salt and pepper could have improved the taste - Last was the eggplant rolitini - again, tough eggplant with almost no ricotta - the sauce tasted like canned. Not sure what is going on here, much of the "preparation" time seems to come from a package or can - I guess that is saving money but the taste is paying the price - as well as customers not returning. The staff is plesant enough but people are coming for the food / taste and it's simply lacking. In this town, people work hard, money is tight and a night out is a special occassion - so to waste it on a experience such as this is quite the disappointment. Not sure a nice staff will help make this restaurant a success - none of us plan on returning - the food and prices were not worth it and we value our dining experiences and finances to not even try to see if a second time would be better. Too many other good places in and surrounding town to experience. Perhaps their bar area will do enough business to keep them afloat, but having spoken to others who have tried this new "Country Cottage" I am not sure too many will be going in for seconds. Quite a...
Read moreI went to dinner with my daughter after my outpatient surgery. After waiting 23 minutes for our food we inquired when the meal would arrive. The waitress, after making a statement that they cook their food fresh sent the manager over. She then proceeded to explain that they are not a fast food establishment. She stated that their food is fresh, but then (ONLY AFTER HEARING FROM ME THAT I ORDERED THE EGGPLANT ROLLATINI) stated that it takes at least 25 minutes to make that. So..... put that on the menu ! There is nothing wrong with waiting for good, fresh food. There is a whole lot wrong with waitresses and/or menus not clarifying the estimated "ticket time" on a item that takes this long. Look.... from a common sense standpoint.... why "bs" that you are busy and why say the particular item we ordered takes so long AFTER THE FACT !!!!! THIS new named restaurant has been here that long. Now they lost at least 6 people for good. Trivia: What kind of manager says to their customers , after they waited so long already for food, "well this isn't a fast food restaurant" ? Answer: one that wants to said restaurants to fail !!! Super sad since my...
Read moreWas excited to try out new restaurant in town, and the interior did look brighter than previous establishment. Wait staff was courteous and table/surrounds neat and clean. The bread on table was the highlight of our meal, sadly. The menu was quite limited with one side reserved for simply dishes and the other side, entire side, for drinks. We are guessing they hope to stay afloat with their liquor license because not much effort seems to be placed on the food end. Our food was tasteless and skimpy serving although it took quite some time for them to actually bring the food to the table - mind you, we were the second couple in the establishment that evening so not sure why the long wait time. Things tasted canned or defrosted with little flavor. Very disappointed that simple orders of chicken and hamburger were substandard. Doubt we will give it a second try - too many other places to enjoy and actually have a...
