This is, hands down, the worst McDonald's I have ever been to...
takes a deep breath
Ok, so let's dive into my visit yesterday (Saturday, September 7th). I went in at around 11:30am. Knowing that this is a small town McDonald's in the middle of their lunch rush- on a Saturday, I expected to experience longer than normal wait times. So, the wait time alone was no let the issue here. However...
I arrive and the drive through line is wrapped around the building to the point where the end of the line is almost touching the front of the line and snaking back into itself- so I opt to go inside. I know that priority is given to the drive through, and that I won't necessarily be saving any time by going inside, but hey... Just didn't want to sit in the endless line outside.
Get inside and there's no one at the counter (no customers in line, no staff at the register). Initial thought was, "Hey, at least I'll be first." But once I got up to the register, there were a dozen unfulfilled tickets waiting on the counter. So, any hopes of a chance quick service was dashed. No big deal, though. I fully prepared for a wait when I left the house.
From here, it was painful to watch the staff running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They may have been understaffed, maybe not. However, the level of disorder and chaos was disconcerting.
The moment that took the cake, however, was when the crew member at the drive through window yelled out (mind you... She didn't say it under her breath and I happened to over hear it. She YELLED it), "THIS IS F** RETARDED!!"
Her fellow crew members collectively stopped what they were doing for a moment, and a jaw or two even dropped. She could tell she was getting the "Did you really just say that" stare, and spouted- "AND I DON'T CARE WHO HEARS ME SAY IT!!"
Now... I curse like a sailor, myself, on my own time. So, it's not like I am shocked and appalled over hearing curse words. I am, however, appalled to have experienced that in a professional (workplace) environment. I even took a look around and saw quite a few small children and minors in the lobby/dining area at the time. To my disbelief, no one said a thing... Parents, co-workers, no one. Really made me realize what the locals have come to expect from this particular establishment. This must be a normal and regular thing. Because no one batted an eye.
And what stood out to me the most- the absence of leadership.
Where were the shift leads, or AGMs or GM?? Why was there absolutely ZERO leadership presence on the floor.
To top everything off (chaotic environment, obscenities, long wait time), when a I got back home and handed my brother his food, he opened up his sandwich, and lo and behold- they kitchen staff had managed to forget to put the egg on it. It was a McMuffin- Egg and Breakfast Sauce Only. He opened up a McMuffin with only Breakfast Sauce. How does this even happen?? At no point when closing up the sandwich did the crew member think, "Wait... It feels like something is missing."
I went back to have it corrected. I wasn't hostile or belligerent. Just wanted the sandwich made correctly. I was surprised to see her take the sandwich that had already left the store, place it on the kitchen counter, and have the crew member add an egg to it. I, personally, have no issues with this course of action, but I know that it is McDonald's policy not to allow potentially contaminated food back into the kitchen.
When the sandwich was brought back out to me, I asked what one employee's name was (the one that yelled obscentites earlier), and I was told her name was Carrie.
I urgently recommend that Carrie be dismissed. This is not the mistake of someone that wasn't trained correctly. This was a blatant and offensive outburst, and to ensure that customers aren't subjected to it again, Carrie should be let go.
Also, it would be my recommendation to replace the leadership that is in place and clean house- stricter enforcement of policy and replacing the crew members that can't adhere to a higher standard of...
Read moreHow does a school levy pass when you can walk in this McDonald's and see the school has completely failed on all levels to teach these kids anything because they can't get a single thing right when you order food here! Yet the smart people passed a school levy to throw more money at a problem and you get this level of service as a result! Someone is to blame.
January 2025 what a shocker they still are not capable of doing their jobs! How come Calver's, Chick-fil-A, and others have employees that get it right and actually seem like they enjoy their job. The Tipp City McDonald's for the most part is pretty decent. You come here and you might as well be in the ghetto of Dayton because it's the same level of service and quality. The school system wants more of my money every single year they try to pass another levy yet this is the return tax papers get. Uneducated kids with no common sense making food where they clearly hate their job. Their wages are way up. $30 for breakfast for two adults and two kids is insane. Then to get slopped together food that tasted like trash. They need to close this location it would do us a favor!
March 2021 update! The West Milton school system must be bad and it shows. These little uneducated kids that work here need to be watched by a adult! Putting kids in as shift managers or managers is a dumb idea. The owners of this location could careless about how bad this location is they dont contact you back! Waited 25 mins for a mobile order and finally the kid that was a shift manager comes out with the food after we had to drive thru the drive thru to tell them because the kids couldn't see us setting in check in spot 2 for 20 mins. The kid says nothing. Called back up there and another kid that was a manager says the app was new! New like several years ago! Clearly you have to start at the root of the problem the school system. Not teaching these kids common sense and real world skills. So its still bad! Go to the Tipp City location! It has different owners.
You can tell the education system needs work by the people who work here and run this location. They just did another remodel but didn't redo the staff the clear problem. First do not use the mobile ordering on the app. If it over charges say 4 times. They do not care! General manager don't and manager don't. Mobile app customer service is just as bad. The over charges will set held up in your account and of course the customer did something wrong or hit the wrong button. Was literally offered new fries for the hassle and that was it! Because the manager admitted they were setting for a while. Most times they are out of items, long wait times, food tastes like it's been setting etc. There is no value for your money. Prices keep going up while budget cuts are made on everything else and quality and service go down. ALSO charging $1 for a cup of city water! Really charging a $1? What else charge to use the dirty restrooms too? Tired of billion dollar companies forgetting the customer and focusing...
Read moreCame here to update since it's been a couple of years. Guess what? Nothing has changed. There was a marked improvement when Godlove first took over but eventually it started declining again. Every single time I've went there and the order has included a 6 piece nugget or an order of pancakes I'm pulled. EVERY time! Yesterday I went through the drive thru at 7:20 am. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel meal, sausage egg and cheese bagel meal and a big breakfast with hotcakes. Get to the second window and sure enough I'm pulled. Mind you two people were ahead of me and had already gotten their food and left. The inside was not busy and had no one waiting. I wait outside for over 10 minutes before going in to get my food. The girl who finally addressed me said, "you've been waiting 5 minutes, 661 seconds to be exact", when she didn't even have a clue what my order was. Eventually she asked me what it was and then said we were waiting on hashbrowns. Really? When there was no one in the store or in the line when I came through? Finally after almost 19 minutes of waiting I got my food and drove home. Get home to find out that it's not even my order! Even though she tossed it on the counter and said there you go and after I told her what my order was. The only thing right was the coke, the coffee and the three hashbrowns. You can tell that no one there want's to be there working. The girl taking orders at the register looked like she had jumped straight out of bed and came to work. Hardly anyone was wearing a name tag. Quite obviously something needs to be done because whatever is being done isn't being managed correctly.
I'm not sure what's gone on at this McDonald's over the years, especially within the last two, but everything has just kinda went downhill. I give them another chance every few months and it never fails that there is an issue. I hardly ever see an adult present and mainly see all the teens standing around. The last time I went they ended up charging the person in front of me for someone else's food and then tried to give her my food after trying to charge me for someone elses order. Today while waiting for my kids food they made an ice cream cone about 6 to 8" tall and were all standing around laughing about it. I get that's its just a job to most but it's still something that should be...
