I understand being busy, I understand making mistakes, and I understand a miscommunication but I do not understand why business think itâs on theirs or their customers best interest to not fix the issue. The environment is great, we love the outdoor seating but when we ordered our food the guy was super nice taking our order, at the top right it says Mac and cheese which I ordered for my 1 yo but our food came out and they gave us Mac and cheese bites and I took 1 bite and took it back to the window and said i ordered Mac and cheese and not the bites they said that they didnât have it and I said okay can I just have a ham and cheese sandwich instead which was actually cheaper and he told me the total and I just asked if it could be replaced for the Mac and cheese bevahse my daughter wouldnât eat it and he just said okay and walked away and they gave us the sandwich instead I thought we were still waiting for our taco salad, about 15 minutes go by and I ask my hunny to go check on the salad, he said the guy said okay and my hunny walked back to our table, wait again about another 15 minutes as multiple other food orders come out I went back up to the window and said I underStand you guys are busy so no rush I just want to make sure itâs coming because with the total I thought I had paid for it. I asked why he didnât tell him they didnât have it and she said because he walked away but she could have had the courtesy to open the door a little and tell him they didnât have it instead of making us wait. We got a pizza burger meal, 3 drinks and 2 fried apps the Mac and cheese and I thought the taco salad the total came to 34 dollars. She said the ticket didnât have it on there and asked if she was sure because of the total I had it didnât seem right and I said Iâm going to add up the total and she said you go right ahead, well she got upset and slammed the window and walked away. I was already full enough and didnât have time to wait any longer and didnât like the attitude so I just figured weâd get our cream any ways. If youâre not going to fix what you messed up you need to take precautions like not false advertising, and then read the order back so you know you took the order properly. The food wasnât horrible but itâs not great either, itâs just something to get you by so there is a very small chance with my experience that I will go out of my way to go back there again, and thatâs how you lose business. Sometimes you have to lose to gain. And if youâre busy, you need to learn to work in a fast paced environment if itâs not for you make sure youâre properly staffed and knowledgeable. The girl at the ice cream window was knowledgeable...
Read moreIce cream stands in PA are about a dime a dozen, but The Cow is probably the best bang for your buck for the area. I donât really have a sweet tooth, but the hotter weather months entices even the likes of me out for a cold snack. And the best thing is, itâs not just sundaes, cones, flurries, shakes (They make a mean CHOCOLATE shake!). They also have a full functioning snack bar next to their ice cream stand that sells snacks of the savory sort (e.g. nachos, jalepeno poppers, onion rings, fries, burgers, pizza, hot dogs, etc. [Iâve provided TONS of menu pics in this review instead of posting pics of myself with babies/kids like most everyone else. So scroll down and check those out! WAY more helpful.]).
The burgers are fine. Not a fan of square cafeteria pizza. The nacho cheese is really thick and has a weird aftertaste. And itâs not served warm. The jalepeno poppers, fries, and onion rings are good to go. And the burgers and hot dogs are like the kind you get at a backyard cookout. Nothing to write home about, but again, if youâre hankering for salty snacks to take the edge off all the sweet treats, itâs decent datenite food.
I havenât ordered any of the seafood platters or the funnel fries yet. But when I do, Iâll update with more pics.
The staff are exceptionally kind and polite people. The customers on the other hand are a different story. This particular ice cream stand gets swamped with customers. So youâre going to see quite a few impatient people standing in line and hovering over the shoulders of the people standing in front of them. People jockeying to cut in line. People not managing their kids or pets they bring to the window. And people who exercise absolutely no social situational awareness after they have received their order, and just block the window area eating their ice cream instead of moving on. Usually, there are large groups of families who show up and order all at once. My advice is to go next door and order something of the savory nature and wait it out in the comfort of your air conditioned vehicle until the line to the ice cream stand dies down. There are plenty of outdoor tablesâparticularly in the gazebo areas to sit. But instead of dealing with unruly crowds, heat, and bugs we just eat in...
Read moreWe live about 3.5 hours from The Cow, however we have family all through Bedford County and have been coming back here for all of our lives thanks to our wonderful parents. My parents are the reason our love for The Cow is so fierce!
We are HOOKED on the orange pineapple soft serve- absolutely delightful, light, refreshing with just enough flavor. I splurge for the waffle cone because I'm lucky if we get to The Cow once a year.
I love that they still carry the flavor burst ice cream flavors- as a 90's teen, this takes me right back to my youth.
The brightly colored streamers hanging in the parking lot just make you happy! During the summer months, the floral arrangements are to die for- simply gorgeous!
Make sure to grab a picture of yourself in front of the cow mascot (figure/statue) too! I can't locate a photos of it at the moment to share.
We were bummed that they were closed a few years back for a while- and are ecstatic that they've been back and open...
