From the moment we walked into Heirloom Lodge, we were surrounded by its warm and romantic atmosphere. The intimate, cozy setting—with soft lighting, open kitchen concept, and the gentle hum of quiet conversation—immediately made us feel at home. It's the kind of place you can easily lose track of time in, where every detail, from the ambiance to the food, invites you to relax and savor the experience.
The seasonal menu was a true standout. Every dish was crafted with such care, showcasing fresh, local ingredients at their best. It's clear that the chef has a passion for both flavor and sustainability, as the ingredients not only taste incredibly fresh but also reflect the changing seasons. Although this is our second time back and everything was delicious the first time around, we appreciated the changes to the seasonal menu and the combinations are both creative and well-balanced, with each bite more delicious than the last. We ordered the prix fixe menu and a couple other dishes. Highlights included the butternut squash soup, which had a perfect balance of flavors and the the house-made gnocchi, which melted in our mouths and yet was also so light and fluffy - it was a delightful surprise that we still can’t stop talking about. My husband particularly enjoyed the ginger cake and I loved the lemon tart with blackberries and mint for dessert.
What made the experience even more special was the attentive service. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, always ready with recommendations and quick to check in without being overbearing. We had mentioned we wanted to share some of the dishes and she had thoughtfully split the soup and salads into two portions for us to enjoy together. The real cherry on top was when the chef—or possibly the owner—came out to thank us personally as we were leaving. It’s rare to see such genuine hospitality and a sense of pride in the food you’ve just enjoyed.

Read moreCan't say enough wonderful things about our dinner experience last Saturday. Walking into the gorgeous dining room, you instantly feel welcomed. The candles all around, the completely open kitchen, the vaulted ceiling with original wood beams and brick chimneys make you feel cozy and comfortable. We were informed that they were short-staffed that night so things might move a little slower than usual, but we didn't notice anything like that. The pacing was perfect - our server gave us just the right amount of attention; we never felt rushed nor ignored. The wine selection is top notch, and the food - just exquisite. Everything was crafted with such thoughtfulness, each dish was perfectly balanced with locally-sourced ingredients that shone both on their own and when combined on the palette. The pear and celery soup with chevre and toasted pine nuts started things off with a bang. Warm and comforting, the sweetness of the pear blended beautifully with the creamy saltiness of the goat cheese, and the pine nuts added the perfect texture contrast. The watercress and tomato salad showcased the fresh late-season tomatoes, their sweetness balanced expertly by the salty Feta cheese, bitter watercress, crunchy croutons, and light dressing. The star of the night was the trout - local and cooked to perfection, its meatiness balanced (yet again) by sweet and acidic cherry tomatoes, crispy bites of roasted potato, and a basil béchamel that was portioned exactly right - just enough to give you a bit in each bite, and thoughtfully placed beneath the fish so as not to ruin the crispy trout skin. It was a majestic dish. The sliced potatoes with bacon, onion, and cheese was similar to an au gratin side dish, but the rich saltiness of the potatoes was balanced (one more time) by the baby arugula dressed with lemon beneath it. Again, such a thoughtful approach, turning a potentially mediocre offering into something incredibly enjoyable. Comfort and deliciousness are what you'll find here, we...
Read moreSince opening in May 2024, Heirloom Lodge has become our favorite spot in the Berkshires. My partner and I come almost every weekend—it’s the kind of place that just feels good to be in.
Driving up, the restaurant seems to appear out of nowhere, its modern farmhouse design standing out in the landscape. The property is beautifully landscaped, and the spacious gravel lot means we’ve never once had to stress about parking. Inside, the space is stunning—part of the building is an old structure stripped down to its wooden frame, which now adds warmth and character to the dining room. The newer addition, with its open kitchen, chef’s counter, and communal table, feels airy and modern, especially with the huge sliding glass doors that open onto the garden.
But what really makes Heirloom Lodge special is the people. Matt, the owner, is a fantastic human being, and he’s built a team that reflects his energy—talented cooks, a chill wait staff, and bus people who all contribute to the easygoing, welcoming vibe.
The little details set the tone right away, like the Marcona almonds and Castelvetrano olives that come with your apéritif (I don’t drink these days, so I get the kombucha on tap—highly recommend). The farm-to-table menu is thoughtfully put together, offering a prix-fixe option alongside an ever-changing selection of appetizers and entrées. The food is best described as rustic French / Italian—hearty but masterfully executed.
Some of our favorites? The steam oven-roasted chicken with caramelized onions and bread stuffing is pure comfort, and the gnocchi roasted with fennel sausage is the kind of dish you think about long after the meal. The bouillabaisse was a recent standout—unexpected and absolutely delicious.
There’s just something about this place—it’s welcoming, it’s warm, and it always leaves us looking forward to coming back. If you haven’t been yet, go. You’ll see...
