The good: Awesome customer service. Food made to order. Fresh cut fries and huuuuuge portions on fries. Clean restaurant. The things that didn't work for me: the "red relish" on the Fat Boy burger is too sweet for my tastes. I know that's a personal gripe, but if you don't like sweet pickles stay away from that stuff. Outside of that the buyer was ok. But these days there are about 30 other places who make a better burger for less. I really wanted to love Ab's but I wasn't impressed. Charging for every fry sauce is b.s. in my opinion. One should be complimentary with an order of fries. On top of that their fry sauce is too sweet for my tastes. So it was an extra bummer to pay .35 ea for 3 fry sauce cups that I didn't like anyway. Personally I don't think I would go back to Ab's. There are just too many other places that get it right for me where Ab's missed the mark. But if you like things on the sweeter side this could be your jam. And again, the kid at the counter was awesome. Super friendly and helpful and seemed really genuine. Wish I'd caught his name.

I can't believe this place is in business. The food was not good at all and way over priced. The staff is rude and EXTREMELY slow. There was only one car ahead of me in the drive through and they made me wait 8 minutes before I even was able to order at the drive through. Once I paid I waited an additional 16 minutes until they gave me the food with cold fries that were so old they formed a solid ball in the container. The burgers were cold and small with balls of grissel in the meat patty. You have to pay for fry sauce even after paying $35 for 2 combo meals. I ordered 3 fry sauce and only got 2 when they are 50cents each. I got no napkins, no straws for my drinks. This place doesn't care at all that the customers wait ridiculous amounts of time for terrible food and worst service.

Update 9/16/2024: We have been back three times in the last month, and hadn’t been since I had written the original review. The shakes have been good all 3 times and back to how we always remembered them. :) We love the fries and burgers, but the shakes have gone down in quality. The shake machine breaks the cookie dough into tiny pieces and so we always have to ask for an additional mix-in to add the cookie dough ourselves, which is on the menu for .99 extra. The last few times we have offered to pay the extra dollar to get a side of cookie dough and one time they let us buy it but the last two times they said we can’t. They won’t let us order an additional mix-in to actually taste the cookie dough, when it is on the meunu and we offer to pay. We will go else where

This is what happens when you hire teenagers and have them work the closing shift on a Wednesday night with no adult supervision:

Wednesday night shortly before 9pm I pulled up to the Abs drive-thru speaker and an employee took my order. So far so good.

Then I got to the window and waited. And waited. And waited. No one came to the window to take my card and confirm my order, no one came to give me my food. I was completely ignored. It took me approximately 8 minutes of sitting at the drive thru window with no service after placing my order for me to get annoyed enough to try honking my horn for service.

Still nothing. I could hear the employees inside talking; laughing. I think they were doing end-of-shift cleaning. At one point I saw a male employee with a mop come within view of the window.

Service at Abs is slow. It's kind of what they are known for. If you go to Abs, expect to spend at least 10 minutes in the drive thru line. (Turn off your car engine). Part of the reason for the slow service is because they don't make the food until you order it. And most of the time the wait is worth it, but this was seriously ridiculous.

After I saw the male employee with the mop, I tapped my horn again. Nothing. I decided to give them until 9:15pm, then I was going to leave.

I had waited at least 5 minutes in between honks, but both times I was ignored.

I gave up at 9:13pm and left to go get food elsewhere. Chili cheese fries and a shake are HARDLY worth a 15 minute wait without any service at all, especially when you are the only car in the drive thru.

So I took my dogs and I to the McDonalds "up" (south) 5600 W and I got myself a medium-sized meal, and I got my dogs each a plain cheeseburger for the same amount I had been told my meal at Abs was going to cost when they took my order.

I know that this is a fast food restaurant, and most of them aren't really known for their great customer service, but when you can't even be bothered to greet a customer at the window when they are hungry and they want to give you money in exchange for some food, you are failing...

The food is great, when they get your order right. For me and my wife? That's about 30% of the time.

They'll read you your order back and somehow still get it wrong. I don't really know what else to say.

3/5/22 update, I just don't get it. We waited MONTHS for the service at this place to improve and it somehow got worse. I absolutely hate saying this because the food is delicious! We waited for our order.. they handed us our bag and bid us a goodnight. I told the window worker "we're missing both our shakes." She asked what they were and I told her. About 2 minutes she hands us 1 shake and says "have a goodnight" I then asked about the second shake and she was totally confused. I repeat what the 2nd shake was and they brought it to us in about 1-2 minutes.

It's not the waiting that's the annoyance. It's the lack of care. Even ordering fry sauce we were made to feel like an inconvenience.

This is the 3rd chance my wife and I have given this place and based on the service we simply can't recommend it anymore. I don't wish ill towards the establishment but I can't bring myself to spend 30$ on a dinner for 2 and be treated like we're toddlers at a daycare who can't speak clearly. We verified our order over the intercom AND at the window while paying and they still couldn't...

I have eaten here before and though at 1st I was very excited to find this place with great food and amazing shakes so close to my home, the service has always been a hassle. From paying extra for mediocre fry sauce to witnessing the cook yell at the young lady working drive thru, its always a awkward experience. They use a 3rd part promoting company that sent me a text to redeem a free shake on my b day and when i went in to redeem it, nobody there had ever heard of such promotion. It was so bizarre!! I was met with resistance even though i had the proper proof of the promotion!! Also there was no manager/owner available to help the situation which was even more bizarre considering the health dept happened to be there that day. Anyways, i got my shake for free after 10 min of fuss. Free for me but the cost for them was 1 customer and me telling that story to my friends and neighbors. The food is good but after 3-5 visits, its not worth the hassle and incompetence of the rude staff. It makes sense that the staff would be unruly since there is never a manager available. Ever. Good burgers aren’t that hard to find. Get it...
