I was shocked to see such high reviews for what was such a below-average experience. To start things off, it took 38 minutes to get a simple sausage egg muffin... I get the feeling that this cafe is so highly rated because people want it to be amazing so much that they give it a 5 on expectations alone.
The cutlery and plates and straws are all compressed paper, which I'm sure makes some people give this place a 5 right there, but the actual experience is bad. For example, the straw for our young daughter's water instantly collapsed and disintegrated in 3 seconds, leaving her upset. We couldn't cut the straw to shorten it and eventually gave up on the water... which was of course in a plastic cup 🤔. Anyway the food was a mix of good and bad, the butterscotch cake is nice, the turkey sandwich had 3 layers of bread for some reason, hard to eat like a Big Mac plowing thru all that bread.
The best part is obviously the outdoor ambiance with great views and a nice babbling brook...but is that enough to give a good review of a restaurant?! Not in my opinion, dear reader. You'd be better off bringing your own food and sitting outside on a picnic table. You can be sure the Cafe is understaffed and overrated enough that nobody will notice you... at least not...
Read moreA very quaint and eclectic cafe. Amazing staff that was very outgoing and kind. Amazing treats but drinks were ok.
You're first greeted by a cute old house near a creek that in nicer weather I bet it's great to sit outside by and drink your coffee or tea. Walking up to the entrance the staff was there already holding the door for people to enter. It just opened and the place was instantly packed. The seating areas both downstairs were all very appealing to the eye but the majority of it was uncomfortable seating.
The desserts all look amazing and the ones I tried were all delectable! True to its name Butterscotch Pastry Shop, if a dessert has butterscotch in it you should get it because it's delicious. The griddle sandwich was good but the potatoes that came with it were bland and not crispy. The avocado toast was also good but it's better at Evergreen Cafe in Downingtown. Plus at Evergreen they add an egg on theirs if you want. The chai tea latte and caramel latte were ok but my cup wasn't even close to being full which was a bit disappointing. I found the chai tea to be more on the bland side but it's hard to find a place that has good chai.
Will definitely be back to try...
Read moreBefore getting to the negative part, the food/drinks here are very good, especially the desserts which are fantastic. However, there are issues with the ordering/communication process that have make visiting here kind of unpleasant. I went to pick up a to-go order and stood next to to the counter for maybe 15-20 minutes waiting. I checked on the status a couple times and was always told “we’re working on it”. Finally I asked again and it turns out the order had been sitting on a different counter the whole time. No communication between the customer, the prep cooks and the front staff. I understand they’re mostly younger people, but the prices are pretty high (and I even left a tip for a to-go order). A similar situation happened the first time I went also. The outdoor eating area is basically a wet muddy field. It’s a shame because this place has lots of potential and the...
