Last night my family and I went to the Haversham for dinner. The group of us inconveniently convoyed to a restaurant up the road that was closed on Tuesdays and as it was late and we had a larger group we called the Haversham to see what time the kitchen closed as well as if they were able to accommodate a group of 10. They said yes and that kitchen “does not necessarily have a close time” but they would be switching to a smaller “pub” menu at 9. I said that’s alright and we would be on our way. We showed up 5 of 9:00 PM and the hostess informed us if we could all get our order in in 5 mins that we could order off the regular menu. We decided it would be easier for the staff and us if we took the “Pub Menu” and ordered off that. In the midst of us ordering the waitress Robin clearly was in a rush, even telling a member of our party to “chop chop” while ordering. I’ve worked in the food service business for years and I know how frustrating it can be when a large party shows up late but even so, I called ahead and if they did not want to accommodate us they could of turned us away. The food was fair however they forgot 2 items of our order and it seemed to frustrate the staff even more when we told them that we were missing a few items. While eating, there were people vacuuming and moving around us closing the restaurant which is fair but clearly they wanted us out even though there were plenty of people still dining in the bar room. When the check came every thing seemed fine at first however we noticed a lot of price discrepancies on the check per the “Pub Menu” that we were given. A lot of the items on the check were 2 to 3 dollars more than listed on the Pub Menu. A member of our party brought this to the managers attention. The manager was more than disrespectful to her stating “that this is an old menu but let me ask you this, if was the other menu would you have got the same thing?” She stated this is the menu we were presented with and that we were under the impression this is what we were paying for. He asked in an condescending tone “what am I supposed to do take a 2 or 3 dollars off all the items?” Mind you this gentlemen seemed like he was drinking. Robin the waitress continued to say “I know nothing about nothing” and that she was “not involved” but while going to the bathroom I heard her exclaim to another worker that she wanted to “go the f*** home” The manager seemed to be less than accommodating and took 10 dollars off our bill. Which we priced out to be overcharged by $34.00. I am completely devastated by the decisions and the poor customer service by every one involved at the Haversham. We over heard the staff at the bar ridiculing us and making fun of our party around the corner as we were figuring out the bill. It says more about the business than it does about our party when we brought a price discrepancy to their attention and they vehemently denied that this was an error on the Haversham’s part. We have been coming to and own houses here for over 25 years to Charlestown and Westerly. We are familiar with the area and aren’t some random tourists that want to disrespect local businesses. We have previously been to the Haversham and have had no prior issues however we will NEVER be returning. I hope this warns future dinners that they are overcharging and then not taking accountability for their errors. Please be mindful when dining at the Haversham as they seem to be scamming people that overlook their bills out of money.

Arriving at 6:50 in peak-season on a Monday, we felt fortunate to secure a table given that call-ahead seating ceased at 4 pm. Despite being the seventh party in line, the wait was inconsequential due to the captivating grounds. Adorned with an array of vibrant flowers and a charming gazebo, the property provided a picturesque backdrop for family photos. Our seating near the bar, along with the thoughtful inclusion of water with lemon as we sat down, showcased the restaurant’s exceptional attention to detail, a trait I truly admire. Upon entering, we were greeted by a captivating beach-themed window display, featuring a brain coral and a charming sandcastle mermaid—a delightful touch that added to the venue’s allure. In the bar area, an array of televisions adorned every wall, ranging from large screens to more intimate ones, creating a lively atmosphere for patrons. Notably, the bar’s extensive beer selection included impressively sizable options that caught our attention. This attention to detail and diverse offerings further enhanced our experience at The Haversham Tavern. Our server, Crystal, added an element of fun to our dining experience. Her interactive approach with the young member of our group left him thoroughly entertained. The culinary offerings were exceptional as well. My choice, the pecan encrusted salad, was generously loaded with pecans, and the house cab wine proved to be a delectable choice. Each member of our party relished their meals, a testament to the kitchen’s prowess. The attentive and harmonious teamwork displayed by the entire staff was commendable. The ambiance exuded a timeless charm reminiscent of 18th-century coastal New England, which harmoniously resonated with the building’s classic architecture. Given the exemplary experience, I wholeheartedly endorse The Haversham Tavern, and there’s no doubt that we’ll be returning. 5 stars for food, service and atmosphere. A heartfelt appreciation to Crystal and the entire crew for crafting an unforgettable dining adventure!

A Dream Wedding at the Haversham!!! My son and daughter-in-law were recently married at the Haversham in Westerly, Rhode Island, and I can honestly say—it was unforgettable. Every single guest mentioned it was the best wedding they’ve ever attended, and I couldn’t agree more!! From the stunning atmosphere to the impeccable food and top-tier service, everything was flawless. The staff truly goes above and beyond to create an experience that feels both elegant and very personal. My son and his now wife worked closely with Brendan, who was an absolute gem. Brendan took the time to understand their vision and brought it to life with an eye for detail and a calming presence that made the planning feel effortless. Nothing was overlooked—every moment was amazing and felt magical. I don’t usually write too many reviews, but this one feels necessary. The Haversham deserves a solid 10+. If you're considering a venue that delivers perfection, this is the place. Many many thanks to Brendan and his staff!!

Been now a few times.. we have been dying to try the Prime rib special that advertised Fri and Sat njght. Well arriving at 630 PM is far too late on a Friday we were told by our server. (Mind blown) Never mind ordering water that was a no as well or I mean our party explained we were thirsty and had to beg for waters after 20 minutes and after our round of 1st drinks arrived with 2 reminders we needed water. Next, tried to order a drink from the drink menu and the waitress said no to like 3 of them and asked everyone specifically what they wanted in their drink.... ummm drink menu defines what's in the drink. I ordered the crab cakes, sham slams for the other 2 and a corned beef sandwich and stuffiees for the table. Our waitress came over took our glasses and we requested a refill of water she took our water glasses then walked over with a pitcher of water, we had no glasses and never recivied the glasses or water again when we were like "you took our glasses". Well, I guess they were running out I of "seasonal veggies" (asparagus) because my $25 crab cakes (were small) had 3 spars on the dish. As soon as the plate was.dropped off I tried to get my waitress as whoever was the expo clearly didn't take notice of the below par dish, she said she would return with the seasonal veggies, never came back with them and ignored my attemps to gain her attention. She came back to the table to clear the table and I gently said never recivied the veggies or water can we have some water and forget the veggies, ordered drinks. Brought the wrong drinks. Had to get her attention again and told her about the drinks we took sips of... she took the drinks and charged us for them. I need to mention the wait time for drinks were beyond long and they seemed to have a staff there and not made correctly according to the drink menu. When asking for our drinks we requested the check. 20 mins pass and we waved her down. For the check. She came with the check and dissappeared. After waiting a considerable amount of time I walked with our check to the desk, and the hunt went on for our server. No one could finder her, I digress this was an issue most of the night. We will go back to try and score a prime rib we will insure we get another server. It seemed the whole restaurant had below par night. We spent a considerable amount of cash there and still tipped 25% but still disappointed about no prime rib, bad drinks, bad services. The only smile we got was from the host and if isn't wasn't for her I may have lost my mind while...
