Not Sure What the Hype Is About
We visited this past weekend with a group of four and, while the atmosphere was definitely a highlight, old-school inn with beautiful views, unfortunately, that’s about where the positives ended.
Service was slow from the start, especially when it came to drinks. When we finally received them, the pours were shockingly small for $20+ glasses of wine, and frankly, they weren’t good.
The amuse bouche (rutabaga with plum sauce) set the tone, unfortunately not in a good way. All four of us were excited to try it, and all of us were stunned that this was chosen to kick off the meal.
The oysters were great, but let’s be honest, it’s hard to mess those up when all you have to do it shuck them.
For mains, my wife and brother-in-law had the lobster pasta. While the sauce had decent flavor, the pasta itself was completely unseasoned, like it was cooked in unsalted water. It made the whole dish not good.
We knew the bill would be over $400 for four meals and two drinks each, so we decided to skip dessert, based on the meal so far, we figured it wouldn’t redeem the experience. We chose to go somewhere else to finish the night.
Disappointing overall. For the price and the hype, we...
Read moreThis was our second time dining here. It is tastefully decorated as country meets rustic coastal. Upon entering you are properly welcomed. The food is delicious and well appointed from biscuits to steak, cocktails. I wouldn’t recommend desert as it is barely a 1/2 serving. The waiter was pleasant and mannerly but had forgot one of our breakfast items., by the time he brought it, we had finished eating. We asked for our leftovers to be boxed to take home but after 15 minutes, we never saw him so unfortunately we could not get our leftovers. We waited a long time after the check arrived with no return of our waiter so we ended up walking around outside to find him to let him know we left our payment on the table. Perhaps he had a urgent need so still giving 5 stars. The hostess who also made our drinks was very friendly and kind. Do not look for huge portions or inexpensive food, but is worth it for the view, and the nice quality of food. Perfect for a small intimate dinner, date, or gathering. Breakfast with a cocktail was $98. We plan on...
Read moreI went with my family (party of 12) to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. We waited 20 minutes to talk to a server, an hour for drinks, and an hour and a half for food. We didn't even get all of our drinks. We got a series of appetizers as well as entrees. But they made the executive decision to bring out both our appetizers and entrees at the same time, making our entree is cold as we ate our appetizers. But they didn't even bring out all of our dishes. The temperature wasn't below 50s, there were plenty of open tables inside yet they never even offered, when we asked if it would be too cold, for us to have a table inside.
The food was okay most of it came out lukewarm. Nothing to write home about. But my BLT was fine so I'm not giving one star. There was an obvious lack of acknowledgment of our poor experience. Only when we brought it up to the server when he rang up our check did we get any sort of...
