We expected it to be busy on July 4th. We were not in a rush at all and were prepared to wait and enjoy ourselves. There were actually multiple open tables at 1:30 PM including 2 where we requested to sit outside.Bartender/waitress had ZERO smile or any hint of friendlessness when greeting us, in fact she seemed annoyed by our presence. She Did bring us outside to a table we requested (kicked the others off it who had sat themselves there which was awkward). Curtly explained to us that it was very busy (didnât seem it to me) and that She had just triple seated the outside waitress and we should be prepared to âhave our patients and wait for quite a while.â We said no problem. That is until the waitress came out, took the drink orders of the people right next to us didnât even look at us and/or smile and at least acknowledge us or say hello. 15 minutes later she couldâve at least said hello or brought us some water or drinks âwe were prepared to wait an hour or so for food which wouldâve been reasonable on any holiday. But the reality is that on July 4 they shouldâve expected it to be busy - just like we did. We had no problem waiting, however They seemed to have a problem serving us at all or caring that we were prepared to spend our money there. We went down the road and brought our money elsewhere - and will do the same in the future. If running a restaurant makes you depressed, mean and nasty, Maybe you shouldnât do it. Pick a different acknowledge if you donât like it and you donât want to be friendly, especially when your customers are willing to be. After reading the other comments I donât think weâll give it another go. Seems to be the norm-bad service and...
Read moreI finished my food at The Gap in such a contented daze, I almost left without paying. It was as if I were in heaven, where your meals are automatically charged to your room, but the billing cycle is eternity.
It was only the beep of my car unlocking that brought me back to earth. I rushed back into the pub, assessed the situation and, detecting no alarm amongst the staff, casually paid for my food and beverage, being sure to leave more than my usual generous tip.
On my drive back home I returned back to my daze, thinking how, when I get to heaven, I will take all my ancestors and my deceased to The Gap and show them what humankind had been cooking up in the Northeast Kingdom after their...
Read moreOut here, you mostly have to pick the restaurant and commit on what direction your driving. This place was good because of the wide variety for all the different tastes in our family & noone could commit before we headed out what they were in the mood for. Everyone's food was delicious. Seared tuna & greens were super fresh & a nice change for this mama who feels like she's lived on pizza & grilled meat all week. My teen proclaimed the peach jam chicken sandwich the best he's ever had. Well made homemade fries. Very efficient & professional waitstaff. Kitchen is small, it's worth the wait. We averaged $20 each at lunch but will probably double that on an indulgent...
