Speranza's Italian Bistro - A Quiet Culinary Delight
Speranza's Wood Fired Italian Kitchen offers a delightful escape from the daily hustle. We visited on a quiet Monday afternoon, eager to try a spot we'd heard so much about from friends. The ambiance immediately set a tranquil tone, adorned with picturesque Italian scenery, and impeccably set tables, inviting us into a world of culinary delight.
Our experience started with a warm welcome from the attentive server, who exuded kindness and professionalism. The pomegranate margarita I ordered was a refreshing introduction to the meal, perfectly balancing sweet and tangy flavors, setting a high bar for what was to come.
Opting for the three-course lunch menu, we began with the Caesar salad. While a familiar choice, it was executed well, a crisp and tasty precursor to the main course. My chicken Parmigiana with linguine was a standout, boasting a rich, flavorful sauce that enhanced the perfectly cooked chicken. The dish was a comforting nod to classic Italian fare, done right.
My husband's choice, the meatball Parmigiana sandwich accompanied by parmesan truffle fries, was equally satisfying. He enjoyed the robust flavors of the sandwich, which was complemented by what might just be some of the best fries we've ever tasted—crispy, flavorful, and downright addictive.
Dessert was a crowning finish to our meal. My coffee stracciatella gelato was light yet rich in flavor, a masterful blend of creamy texture and aromatic coffee. The hubby's limoncello cake was a bright, zesty treat that left us both smiling.
Speranza's proved to be a revelation, making us regret not visiting sooner. With its enchanting decor, welcoming service, and excellently crafted dishes, it's a place we'll certainly return to. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this charming bistro is a must-visit for anyone in search of a great meal in a...
Read moreOverall, Speranza is in my opinion the best pizza in Gloucester County. I absolutely love their Caprese Pizza. Everything about it is delicious. Their lunch specials are an absolute steal. $9 for a variety of different food options, a salad, and a roll is fantastic. Especially considering how delicious the food is. Some of the downsides are there's no dedicated parking lot so you can either Street Park in Westville or there is a public parking lot. It isn't the largest restaurant so if you don't make a reservation that can be a problem depending on the night. They are closed Sundays which annoys me to no end because without a doubt I will be at my favorite place to drink and want to order food and can't get it. Also, the times that I have ordered pickup somehow my food isn't as hot as when I've gotten take out. And then I'll go in to pick it up and the person at the counter it takes that person a long time to go and get my food. That's very frustrating and then I'm driving back with my food and it's getting progressively colder. And I've arrived at the time that they've designated it should be ready so it should be hot. But if you get delivery, every time I've gotten delivery it's been super hot and fresh and delicious and wonderful. However, there is a $2 delivery charge which I didn't know until recently because I just recently was the person who is paying. When I've eaten there it's always been a great experience. They do have specials and most every night of the week e.g. if you check in on Facebook you might...
Read moreService was horrible! Waitress asked if we wanted bread. We said yes. Never got bread. When she brought our dinners she asked if we wanted cheese and we said yes. After waiting 5 minutes for her to return with the cheese I asked the neighboring table if I could borrow theirs since they had a shaker on their table. Waitress was taking an order near us and heard. She then came over and asked if I still wanted cheese. I told her no because I borrowed one because my food was getting cold. Dessert was a nightmare. She brought out hot tea and my dining companion’s dessert. No silverware. We asked for forks. Ten minutes later she had not returned with forks or my dessert so we asked the person clearing a nearby table for them. After drinking all our tea she shows up with my dessert - but it wasn’t what I ordered. She seemed surprised when I told her it was not correct. Finally got my dessert after waiting for another 10 minutes. She needs to be retrained. You don’t go take another table’s order and leave someone staring at food they can’t eat because they have no fork. Or leave them waiting for cheese. Go grab the cheese, go grab the fork!! Also disappointed in the portion size, changes to menu, lack of salad, and the bread situation considering the price increases. We have been dining here for years but we...
