The Cheese Melt Grill and Bar — Restaurant in Wheeling

The Cheese Melt is a great local restaurant where you can grab lunch, dinner and even drinks! The menu is perfect with some classics, as well as some things you may never have thought to try. This place started as a food truck serving gourmet grilled cheese and has now found a permanent space for their delicious offerings. They are still known for their grilled cheese specialties, but also have amazing smash burgers and tasty appetizers, sides and specialty cocktails.

The space is small, so you may find yourself having to wait for a table, but the wait will be well worth it when you get your food. During warmer weather, they have additional seating available on the patio. If you are lucky, you might even catch a jam session out there!

You will frequently find the owner behind the counter or working in the kitchen. They are VERY involved in their day-to-day operations. They are also incredibly kind and generous within the community.

Lastly, the staff here is great. Very attentive to your needs and willing to help you make choices for some of their best dishes based on what your tastes are. We dine here pretty frequently, and most of them know what my husband wants as soon as he sits down. Though I like to try different things once in a while, they remember me too and often engage us in conversations about life.

Make it a priority...

I really dont want to be that guy who says, "This place SUCKS!! How do they have a 4.9 star rating?!" But I want to say that for a place with so many positive reviews, I was beyond disappointed with our experience. We arrived at 12:21 and ordered before 12:30. We ordered 2 sandwiches and some wings, and about 25 minutes later, someone came out saying there was a problem with the wings regarding the sauces, but I said that it was no big deal at all. About 45 minutes in, there's no word of our food, and we flag a server to ask about our order, to which she says they're loading it up on the trays to be served. Nothing was put on the table until 1:32, and that included not being offered a single refill for the entire hour that we waited for two sandwiches and some wings. This was not a busy day, and there was absolutely 0 acknowledgment that something had gone wrong with the order regarding how long it took to be served. After all of that, the wings and sandwiches were all cold. Im sure other people love this place, and Im also sure there is reasoning to their high rating being so high, but my individual experience was just sad and I won't...

Happy I found the cheese melt and grill. We were making our way from central PA to Southern OH and this was a great half way point to stop for lunch. We had a craving for a grilled cheese and we found this restaurant

Fantastic food in a really neat space with about 8-10 tables and a small bar. Very clean and well decorated. Service was super friendly.

We had a bacon/apple/Gouda GC and Turkey/bacon/cheddar GC. Nice thick cut buttery bread and the bacon was almost like pancetta. Both were delicious dunked in the small cup of tomato soup you can order just for dipping, which was a great touch (you can get a larger bowl if you wish)

I also tried the chicken wings. Superb. Crispy breaded on the outside, juicy on the inside and the chilli garlic sauce was a fresh sauteed garlic and habanero sauce, not a distilled vinegar based sauce. Really different and amazing. More like a Korean fried chicken

They also had burgers and chicken sandwiches on the menu which i'd look forward to trying in the future.
