Grubsteakers Restaurant — Restaurant in White Rock Township

Normally, I don't write negative reviews. And I'm not trying to get any freebies. But I'm writing this in case someone else is like me and wanting to try different places. Been there 3 times and that's more than enough disappointment for me. First visit, waited 45 minutes for fried chicken that was overcooked (skin too dark and meat dry.) They gave me the grubhouse chicken as a replacement and it wasn't bad but I had really been in the mood for real fried chicken. Next time, we went for breakfast. The country skillet was really bland. Sausage gravy tasted like it was from a mix with a little bit of leftover sausage. No seasonings Honestly, if it hadn't been 1pm on a Sunday, the food might have put me to sleep. Recently, I had a lunch meeting there. I figured the"tornado burger" would be something special as the restaurant makes the fact they were hit a few years ago by a tornado part of their lore. Burger came with soup and I got the cream of potato. It was cold and flavorless. Then came the burger. I don't think the beef had been seasoned at all. It was the most underwhelming burger I've ever had. And the lettuce that was on the side to go on, was warmer than the meat, and wilted. The servers have always been friendly so I'll give 2 stars. My husband and I thought we would try this place based on all of the nice reviews. We noticed a lot of the reviews mentioned the wonderful, attentive, kind, & friendly service. Well, we certainly didn't get that!! Rather we got a less than friendly greeting when we walked in. Then our server was less than thrilled to wait on us. Barely greeted us, and most definitely without a smile. Didn't get her name as she didn't bother to share it with us. We honestly felt like we annoyed her by being there. I asked for an omelette with Swiss and American (with extra cheese) and she plops down my plates with a flat, paper thin, omelette with 2 pieces of American cheese that looked like it still had the cellophane wrappers on it on TOP of the omelette and says that the cook forgot to add the cheese and she thinks the Swiss is inside but not sure. Oy!! She then gave us our check when we were only halfway thru our meal. Boy, she just couldn't wait to get rid of us, or at least that's certainly how she made us FEEL! Although the food we eventually got tasted good even though the omelet was wrong. We saw 4 or 5 other wait-Persons that were actively helping clients and cleaning the restaurant, ours spent the first 10 minutes we were in the restaurant with a couple behind us being discussed on how she should raise children. Then when she finally came to take her order we apparently were bothering her. We got our appetizers with no condiments. And 20 minutes later we got our meal. We saw three or four other couples that came in after us get their food and leave before we got our food. No the food was not hot. If a waitress or waiter doesn't like doing their job they should find another occupation.
