North Georgia Mercantile — Restaurant in White

Called the night before to ask about bringing a party of 9 to eat for a birthday celebration. Told that would be great, they closed at 8.

Got to store a little before 6 and lady said HER kitchen closes at 6. She was very curt and did not care that we were told the wrong information. (we have no clue who told us the night before that we could come eat until 8)

We asked could we just get ice cream and she said NO... ALL food was put up at 6.

We went to wait in the parking lot for the others of our party to get there so we could figure out where else to go for the birthday celebration. We watched a lady go in and come out with an ice cream around 6:10. We also saw someone go through drive thru about 6:15 and purchase ice cream.

A business should always tell the truth, and even if they can't do what the customer wants, they can act with kindness and apologize for any inconvenience.

Not sure what makes people act the way that...

This place always caught my interest when I was riding by on my many travels through the area. It IS a general Mercantile store. You can buy fresh veggies, heirloom seeds, canned relishes, many other general store items and scooped ice cream in lots of flavors: vanilla, chocolate, coconut, peach, pistachio almond and more. The staff was friendly and willing to help but not pushy. They have interesting yard art outside. Today they also had citronella and lemongrass plants. I guess I shorted this a star for not being as interesting on the inside as it was on the outside. But then again, that might just be me because I wanted to stop by for so long. Odd little store that tries to harken back to times long ago in it's rustic building, offering of chocolate display & ice cream counter. As you deeper into the west end of the main store, it winds a little into shelves of some hardware supplies. Then head outside to shop the inventory of statuary & a few buildings full of what seems to be part of a farm estate sale. There are household items, garden tools to farm machinery & some antique vehicles. I'm glad I went but it's a one time ...
