The Chef's Restaurant — Restaurant in Whitwell

Ran across this little place in my travels and gave it a whirl. It was a seat yourself. It was after the lunch rush so no problem on getting a spot. My drink order was taken immediately and was down the daily lunch menu and given a regular menu. The tea was decent, could have had a more robust tea flavor and it was sweet, but not overly sweet. I ordered chicken and dressing, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll. The roll was good and hot, melted butter easily, mashed potatoes and gravy had a really good taste, the corn was good, the green beans were a bit on the bland side though, needing some ham hock or fried meat grease, this would have surely made them better. The dressing was decent, but not a lot of meat as far as the chicken went, however all of this was EXTREMELY reasonable for this day and age, drink with a meat and three, $8.81 out the door. Remember how excited you would be when the school cafeteria was serving Cheeseburgers or Mac and cheese?

Do you like a well prepared frozen chicken patty? Fries from a bag?

Extra helpings of mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard on your well done burger?

This Mac and Cheese isn’t a brand name, it’s a bag name, that the staff shared they heat gallons a day to serve the customers.

The Chef is really the Magician, as there is a clear and steady stream of customers flowing in the restaurant, dining on food that would otherwise be considered backyard pot luck.

Admittedly I did not try the regular favorite catfish or lasagna.

With regards to service, the food was delivered as if Aergia herself had left Olympus to serve her following.

I’m not sure when I’ll have a chance to experience a meal like this again, but like the memory of the school cafeteria- this one is burnt in me...

We're here from our is state visiting my husband's uncle. He said we had to come here for lunch. When we first pulled up I was delighted to see the small, quaint little place. Inside it's magnificent with all the decorations that opened adorned the walls and shelves. Our waitress was not only as nice as they come, but silly and fun like us. We ordered and my husband and I were in awe of how good it was. The coleslaw is how I make mine and along with it the country friend steak, home-made mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese... And let's not forget or appetizer of corn nuggets yum. My husband had the meatloaf which was also divine. We had a wonderful meal, outstanding service and the price was amazing!
