My boyfriend and I have been waiting for this place to open (with excitement!) for two years. He lives across the street, and I work in the area in the restaurant business. We went tonight for Labor Day, and we walked in and got seated quickly, which was the only positive part of our experience. Our server, we do not know her name because she never told us, looked like a deer in headlights the entire night. She walked up to our table and took our drink order and we waited ten minutes to get those drinks (a soda water and a tea). I watched as she walked around to other tables aimlessly without getting our drinks. She literally found anything else to do but tend to our table and get our drinks.
Then, we got our drinks and placed our order. The tuna poke appetizer is mediocre at best. My boyfriend ordered a burger, I got the native salad with chicken. Service was so brutally slow that I just chalked it up to them adjusting to their soft opening. BUT, I noticed the woman with blonde hair at the front who seemed to be part owner or a manager was walking around table to table, and she walked by ours twice as we had empty glasses at the edge of the table so they were in plain view, and she did not offer to refill our drinks nor ask how our food was or anything. My boyfriend's burger came with soggy fries and no ketchup. By the time we started eating, we just wanted to leave. If you love alcohol, this place might be okay, but otherwise, don't waste your time. We...
Read moreThis restaurant was advertised as a tiki bar atmosphere over looking Lake Okahumpka? This fell short in both aspects! My wife and i set-up a little gathering there for ourselves and some good friends that had also heard about it and we were all looking forward to meeting up there! None of us had ben there prior to this little gathering! Now the huge outdoor area which is the tiki bar area was basically a big open air building but covered. That is covered like a tiki bar with the straw but its like two stories high at least! So really no ambience and the bar is set-up like a Cody's with one side like its outdoors and the other side is indoors the big open air (tiki) area! There view of Lake Okahumpka is OK but not breathtaking! The food was all average bar food and not cheap! Like my brother & girlfriend said all restaurants are now pricing appetizers at entree level prices and I know that everybody at least who i talk to think the samething! Actual entree prices dont even make sense so you dont order them unless you order one and split it! We were hoping it would be a destination place for us to add to our list of places to go! We are younger retireds but live north of 466! Everything seems to be moving further and further south which is not the restaurants fault! But then yove got to do something special to get people coming...
Read moreBig shout out to Scott, an owner, and Kristen M, our server, and of course…. Henry the Chef!
Well done!
You guys hit it out of the park! HOME RUN.
We went out tonight for my wife’s birthday, and we made special prior arrangements with Scott and Henry the Chef to get two Maryland style crab cakes. Chef Henry said he would make them for her, and he kept his word! Scott mentioned they may be planning to add the Maryland style crab cakes to the next iteration of their menu, so we are all hoping they will eventually be a regular fixture in the future. The fresh ingredients, paired with the classic inventive recipes really are the core of any good eatery. Add the lake front atmosphere, and the great service (Thanks again to Kristen) and we think Harry’s will be a big hit for years to come.
We absolutely loved the whole dining experience, and look forward to returning soon.
What a refreshing and fun night out in...
