My girlfriend and I recent visited the Willington Pizza House and we're really let down. We were looking for a good pizza place and figured from the reviews that it couldn't be half bad, but we were completely wrong. While the restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we showed up, it did get so progressively, but the parking lot was still less than half full by the time we left.
We started by ordering drinks and glasses of water, and while the drinks showed up in short order, we had to remind the waitress three separate times we'd like water as well (more on that later). After we got our drinks, we ordered a large California pizza for two, with sides of blue cheese for each of us. Our waitress then proceeded to stare at us for a good 30 seconds like we were idiots for 'only' ordering a large pizza for two people. She then left without a word and with the menus still on the table.
As we sat, drank, and waited (a very long time) for our pizza, we tried flagging down our waitress again to ask for waters, but she seemed intent on ignoring us, instead walking up and down the aisle looking anywhere but at us. More than a half hour after we ordered our pizza, it finally came, but in the time we had been waiting, our waitress had forgot to bring plates and napkins (and our waters). A few morw minutes later we finally got our plates, napkins, blue cheeses, and (mercifully) our waters.
Now we get to the pizza, we ordered the California pizza because a cheese pizza with artichokes, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes, sounded like a no brainer as far as delicious pizza is concerned. Instead what we got was an under baked circle of chewy dough, cheese that looked it had been microwaved, more olives than cheese, tasteless tomatoes, and approximately a single artichoke heart spread over the top. (I'm not being facetious about the artichoke, I could barely find any, and when I did, it was one or two leaves buried under barely melted cheese.)
I'd have hoped that a place with pizza in their name could have managed at least a decent namesake, but given our recent experience I can't imagine the rest of their menu is any better. This place might be okay for a drink, but I can't recommend it for...
Read moreI have been waiting 40 years to patronize this restaurant. It "was" all the rage back then! I was excited to be there, it was Mother's Day and I was getting a gift I had wanted for years! So...what a disappointment. I chose a pizza that had all the ingredients I absolutely loved. There was gorgonzola cheese, chicken, broccoli etc., but what a horrible pizza it was. There was absolutely no gorgonzola on the pie, the chicken was pre frozen and from a bag, the taste was horrible (it made me gag). The tomatoes were fresh but they were placed on top of the dough but under the cheese so it didn't cook properly, they were slimy and the dough beneath them was raw. I had one piece and waited for the waitress, but she was busy, so I tried another piece to hunt for the gorgonzola and I gave a piece to my husband so he could find gorgonzola. Nope nothing. When the waitress came I told her I couldn't find it and that I wax looking for the creamy cheese with the blue mold and she said she couldn't see it either. She offered to get me some to sprinkle on the pizza. I think I know what happened...the little container of cheese was filled with a "sand-like" consistency of SOMETHING but no blue specks. I don't know what it was, but it neither looked or tasted like gorgonzola! Now you've been in business for years and have received many awards, how can you buy substandard frozen food and serve it to people? FRESH is the key word, don't be stingy with the portion size! Test your product before you give it to your customers. And most of all cherish your followers and give them a good product. I Probably will not be...
Read moreToday my husband and I went to Willington Pizza for the first time in many year's. I was so excited to go back there, but unfortunately we both ended up very disappointed. We don't always share the same palette when it comes to food, but when he suggested we get a white chicken, broccoli, Tomato & gorgonzola pizza, I was ecstatic, then let down hard. When the pizza was set down our faces dropped instantly. The first thing we noticed was the chicken wasn't diced like the menu stated. It's looked like when you carve a turkey, big slices. And the ends were all dried out. Some of the chicken slices where so big it covered a whole slice of pizza. The tomatoes were giant slices too. The mozzarella cheese was barely there, so you could see the crust below. The garlic/oil base was non existent in taste. But what really wasn't there, taste or sight, was the gorganzola!! We couldn't find any on the pizza. We searched, and at one point thought we might be able to taste it. When the waitress came by to check on us, I told her we didn't like the pizza. I explained everything and she suggested to bring a bowl a gorgonzola over for us to put on it. When it was brought over it was grated/shavings. I've never see gorgonzola like that before. Normally it's chunks. Even putting it on didn't help the taste. We ended up leaving mostly a whole large pizza behind. We are so disappointed. But on a good note, the buffalo chicken dip was delicious! We got that before the...
