1-30-22 update: We've been back three or four times since I wrote the review below. We spoke to the new owner (Zachery) last time we stopped in for lunch (1/23). Nice enough guy. Told us about some kitchen staffing issues which explains the food. The food was edible but only barely. The fries were overdone (so hard you could crack a tooth) and the thin piece of chicken on the sandwich was dry and over-cooked. The time before the Italian beef was way too salty and the bread wasn't toasted (by the time it got to the table, it was a soggy mess). Today we ordered bratwurst thinking, "What could possibly go wrong with bratwurst?" The answer: More that you would think. The brat was served on a stale, hard Italian beef roll. Not only was it too much bread, it was a cylinder of meat between two hard flat planes - it was impossible to hold. The meat kept moving. We ditched the bread. The brat itself was fine, but not in sandwich form, it was just an expensive piece of sausage. The fries were good. The server, Jodi, was just as lovely as always. Zach said "hi" when he went by but didn't ask us about the food this time. Smart move. While we were waiting for Jodi to pick up the check, some moron played Megan The Stallion's "Body" on the juke box at full volume. The speaker was right above the booth where we were sitting. How dissappointing. The bar area was very busy, though. Maybe the trajectory is more bar less dining. Original review: I deleted my previous review since Tom & Julie sold Coupe’s in November 2021. I understand a young man has purchased the bar / restaurant. It appears (from social media) he is treating his staff well and is adding some popular entertainment. My own observation is the crowd is younger and fairly lively. I think this is great news for Coupe’s and the community it seeks to serve. We have been several times since the transition in ownership. We have been served by the same server each time: Jodi. She is sweet and attentive. However, the reason we go to Coupe’s is it is the closest restaurant in the area other than The Beaver Den in Paw Paw. The menu hasn’t changed and the food was always hit and miss. Do something with that sad menu. Different cheeses for burgers, interesting appetizers, anything would help. Previously, you could count on everything being spot-on about 75% of the time. In my opinion, the food quality has deteriorated significantly. Sunday is the chicken special, but the last two Sundays were there, there was no white meat chicken. I ordered a burger rare yesterday (as I always do), and it was served overly well done. Most of the fries were soggy and limp. Looks like we’ll be leaning toward the Beaver Den more. Under new ownership, we expected Coupe’s would get a fresh coat of paint at least- maybe less duct tape on the upholstery. Maybe given more time things will improve. In the meantime it still has the Tom & Julie apathetic vibe bordering on the 3D version of depression. February 2022 update: A former employee told us that Zach said he doesn’t care if we come back or not. Guess what, Zach: No worries. We won’t be back. And, we’ll make sure no one we know will be back either. Good luck, loser.

Found this place while camping at Shabbona Lake State Park. 1st night I had a great 1/2 lb burger while the Mrs. has chicken nachos, which we both agreed were the best nachos we'e ever had in our life. Went back the next night - I had the Seafood Fra Diavlo (it was a special) and it was AMAZING. The prices are incredibly reasonable and service was great. I hope they hang onto the chef. This place is a keeper!

BTW - the person who wrote the prices were high must not...

Service is really bad. The owner is straight up rude. The cook is only nice to costumers and you can see and hear him yelling at the staff very frequently. The Wi-Fi password taped to the bar is wrong and when pointed out to the owner she said that she didn't care and walked away. My food order wasn't even put in until I finished my salad and gave...
