I had been searching for a food delivery service for such a long time and had seen all the TV advertisements for Grub Hub and Door Dash but they just weren't being offered here in Wilmington... I was thinking, so why advertise here?
I'm disabled, in a wheelchair and I cannot drive so delivery is a necessity. Up until then the only way to have food brought to my door was by ordering from a Chinese restaurant or pizza joint. I'm not a fan of either one.
After a while my prayers were answered and through my searches I discovered Cape Fear Delivery! I've used the service many times and have nothing but praises to sing about them!
Right after placing each order I am texted what time to expect my food. I'm updated every step of the way- from when the order was picked up, the location of the driver from the time he leaves the restaurant through his arrival at my door. Not once have they been late and my food is always fresh and still hot.
I've never taken the time to compare delivery prices but the range starts at $1.99 and can get expensive if you order from a restaurant that's distant. There are so many restaurants close by that I'd be crazy to order from one that's far away. I've never paid more than $1.99 for delivery. The menu isn't marked up, you're paying the actual price so the only other cost is to tip the driver. It's all well worth it for me, considering my situation.
I know I could have switched over to one of the other better known delivery services, but why would I? I've always had a positive experience with Cape Fear so I'm sticking with them. That's why I rated them 5 Stars! They have my appreciation and I would absolutely recommend them any day...
   Read moreI was trying to support a local business by using this one instead of one of the other choices. I ordered at 6pm, delivery time said 7:07. At 7:07 the order status had not been updated at all. I used the chat feature to find out what the issue was. I was eventually told that it was the restaurant that was very busy. Then at 7:17 I received a text from the driver that it was on the way and he would be there in 6 minutes. At 7:40, still nothing. The delivery status updated to delivered...but where??? I had no food. I called Cape Fear delivery and spoke with Michelle. She said she would call the driver and call me right back. I never heard back from her. I called back at 7:50 no answer. At 7:55 the driver arrived with very cold food. They did refund my money. However, a 2 hour wait for cold food is ridiculous. Blaming it on a busy restaurant is ridiculous. Clearly the food was ready much earlier or it would not have been cold. If you do not have the staff to handle the business, then either get more staff or don't take on so much business. At the very least, communication with your clients would be very much appreciated. We were starving!...
   Read moreMUCH prefer using Cape Fear to commercial delivery services like DoorDash or Uber Eats. The delivery drivers are always courteous and the one time I had to call about an incorrect order, Melissa (I believe is her name, maybe Michelle?) handled everything promptly with no hassle. A restaurant hadn’t delivered my entire order and I received a refund with no trouble. Many months ago they were about 40min behind on delivering a pizza I ordered and while I’m never very picky about that because I know accidents happen, when the driver arrived he informed me they had refunded me for the pizza and even put a $10 credit on my account. Since I live downtown, some of the delivery fees get a little steep for restaurants I want outside of downtown, however I know they do what they have to to stay in business and that’s just part of having food brought to me that I’m too lazy to get myself! During this horrible time of quarantining and watching local businesses struggle, I will continue to support Cape Fear as a local delivery service and the local restaurants that deliver through them.
