This restaurant was recommended by a Rumford Maine fire dept employee as I wanted scallops

Got there to learn they were sold out of scallops lol it turns out they had one sea scallop left and the chef happily cooked it for me. He served it to me with a side of Rizzuto with a cheese sauce, absolutely delicious!

I ended up ordering the filet mignon and it came with mashed potatoes, green beans and a gravy. It was very good but next time I want to try it without the gravy. The portion was so large, I could only eat half of it, and I shared the rest of it with someone else in my party.

Someone else in my party got the calamari and the seafood chowder and he said both were out of this world!

The third person in my party got the bacon burger with provolone cheese and a side of the risotto with the cheese sauce. He loved the risotto so much we had to get a side order to bring home,

I do have food allergies one is to sugar and the other is a gluten allergy in this restaurant very easily accommodated me.

All tables were served, homemade potato chips with a homemade dipping sauce. These were not gluten-free, so I didn’t get to try them, but others in my party love them.

Our waitress’s name was Hillary. She was very friendly and outgoing and I feel she went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I did notice that the other two waitresses were happily humming to themselves as they did their work, to me this is a sign of very content and happy employees And I applaud the restaurant for making their employees feel this way

We will definitely...

I am a gluten-free vegetarian, my husband is a die-hard carnivore! We make it work at home, but Salt & Pepper and Sugar too is the one and only restaurant that could possibly be the favorite place for us both to eat. Every meal either of us has had there has been outstanding - literally in a class by itself. The quality of Chef Mary's food is only one aspect of what makes this place shine, though. The atmosphere hits just the right homey note, and is exceptionally welcoming. Walking through the door is like discovering a special escape hatch from the gritty road out side, and the hurried pace of life's unending demands in both directions. Once inside, everyone feels like family, and while the service is very efficient and attentive, one never feels rushed, even if it's a busy night. At our latest visit, we had an inspiring conversation with our server Lila, a chat with chef and owner Mary, and with several other diners as they passed our table. Everyone seemed truly happy to be there, diners and staff alike. The spirit and caring of the people who work here are unmatched. When people use the phrase "dining experience" Salt & Pepper and Sugar too is what they are talking about! We left with all our...

An absolute divine hidden gem.

If you are in the area, do not pass by this amazing establishment.

The detail of the dishes was superb with flavor profiles you would not expect.

The service was immaculate, seeing the server knew every single detail about every dish. Not to mention the server remembered each of our 8 names.

The prices were incredibly fair seeing the dishes are all handcrafted, not something out of the freezer or box.

Each and every dish was well thought out with very unique combinations.

The owners put love into each and every dish along with giving great service to each and every customer.

Anytime I am in this area I will most certainly stop by, as I recommend you to as well.

From breakfast, lunch, dinner, to dessert (yes we had to go here multiple times throughout our trip) I highly recommend it.

When I say every single dish is a handcrafted delicious masterpiece made with true love, I mean every word of it.

The entire staff were a ball of joy, the food was perfect, bathrooms were cleaner than a whistle, and the final bill was very reasonable.

PS: If it is your birthday, you may have the singing experience of a LIFETIME.

I’m not sure how to describe a restaurant like this, I truly can not find the words. Maybe passionate, inspiring and creative? To be honest, It’s not only those words that describe this location. Delicious, decadent, mouth watering and addicting. I ate a sandwich that was so complex, yet so delicious, I still can’t believe it not only worked but was as outstanding as it was. The owners love what they do and it shows. Not only in their food but in their passion for creating and achieving. Chef Mary came out and told us the story about how she created the sandwich. Just building until the product had a solid foundation of flavor that could never faultier. Everything is homemade from salad dressings, to soups, to chowders. Staff is welcoming, very knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. I highly suggest calling for a reservation for dinner before going so you won’t be waiting. This is a must dine for anyone who respects and enjoys eating at spots people crave and travel for. You will not be disappointed, you will only wish to return again and again.

We came in from out of town and were recommended to eat here. The atmosphere is crisp, clean & homey. The staff was super friendly and helpful with suggestions. We were almost done eating and the chef came out to talk to us too. Haven't seen this level of service in years. Then the food! So perfect in every way. Seasoned so well, divine doesn't even do it justice. We had the poutine, so much but you can't stop eating it, it's that good. The Caeser salad had the best dressing I've ever eaten with croutons so light, like little pillows. My husband had the chicken fried steak. The green beans were the flat Italian kind that have so much more flavor. The potatoes where perfection as was the breading used and the gravy. Our waitress Lila was beyond friendly and gave super service. I just wish we had room for desert
