A full star seems generous. The staff doesn't care about their customers because the manager doesn't care about customers.
At least that's what I've observed multiple times. My family eats in average at least twice a month there for about a year now. I have been ignored by the manager both while dining in and while carrying out. I guess I should just be happy they don't deliver. The first time we ordered calzones and discovered they serve it with French dressing instead of marinara I thought it was a mistake, but sure enough the very next time it was the same. What?! Why?! This of course is if you get what you order. At least 70% of the time our order is missing something or wrong. Not surprising, at least not to the staff who on more than one occasion have commented that their own practices don't make sense or are quick to ask "What did they/we mess up?" But today will be the last time I give them my patronage or money.
Today we ordered carry out for a family a five. In that order were three calzones. (Hold the French) First a cheese one, which was spilling out everywhere with cheese. Second a veggie and third a sausage one which was the smallest of all. At first my wife and I literally thought it was a mistake where they had been in a hurry and accidently spilled some ingredients in the calzone, this is common as it is not surprising to find a big piece of onion when least expecting. However, we then surmised that it was actually what the cooks were passing off as a sausage calzone. I could have cut of the inner inch of the calzone and removed all of the sausage. There was about a fingers worth. When I went in to politely request a refund or a different calzone I stood in the door of the restaurant while other family's were being seated and the manager talked to other people right in front of me, while I was holding the to go box, and deliberately ignoring me. Ok, sure he's busy he's the manager i guess. Then the woman at the counter who had seen me also standing there helped two gentlemen directly in front of me then instantly occupyed herself with busy work while actively ignoreing me. Another patron came up and asked about being in line while others were coming to the front. I was ready to drop it on the floor and walk but she noticed me before I did. She herself now occupied with my time, couldn't even decide what type calzone it was there was so little. By the time she got around to asking if I wanted to see the manager, who completely disappeared, I decided it was worth the price of a calzone to speak my peace. I've had many service jobs, and manager jobs and I know how rough the hospitality industry can be. Generally I believe that most people who work in customer service aren't there to service customers, but really just to reframe from choking customers. It's hard, I get it, but in this economy how can customer service be worth so little. Today might have been much different if even one person had the thought that it would be worth caring about what was going on or in the very least that your very employ depends on the product you sell and how you treat the people who buy it. Instead the manager has no a countablity, some poor cashier has to listen to disgruntled ex-patrons and I'm at home with no dinner....
Read moreThey are very rude they screwed up my order and flat right out refuse to refund me they gave me attitude on the phone basically telling me to go to hell I will be contacting the Giovanni's franchise I will be contacting better business I also be contacting the chamber of commerce of Winchester I will also be letting everybody I know about the horrible service that I received nobody should be treated like this by a business especially when there's plenty of competition I will not stop until the day this Giovanni's goes out of business this is a promised. I just happen to know a lot of people and once I spread the word around Giovanni's business will start dwindling before too long going out of business and I won't stop until then all they could have done was refund my money I will not put my head down and walk away like so many people do today I'm American citizen and I will stand up for my rights and I have a right to fair treatment by all businesses. I also consider this extremely racist seeing how my brother-in-law is black and he went down to get the refund. He took back the messed up order so basically we pay for something...
Read moreI've loved Giovannis since childhood. My small town had 2 or 3 and we touted the one nearest my childhood home as the "best" Giovannis there is. It kept that mantel til last week when I first stopped at the franchise in Winchester. Winchester doesnt have a ton going for it but one thing it has now is the "best" Giovannis I've had. That is out of 7 franchises in 2 states so its nothing to scoff at.
The wait staff is extremely nice and hospitable. It's the only spot that takes your order and drink at the table. The food is fresh and delicious. They keep the bar stocked and rarely let anything get much more than a few hours old. The variety is wide ranging and there are a couple of unique options like pickled peppers to top your salad or pizza. The desert pizza is also one of the most beautiful things I've seen.
On top of all that, it's only $10 (plus tip) a person. My wife says "compliments to da chef" with an Italian finger kiss at the end....
