I am going to come right out and say it. I DO NOT like to cook. I don’t like having to come up with ideas, shopping, chopping, touching raw meat, seasoning, spending too many minutes in the kitchen, doing the numerous dirty dishes and pots and pans it creates, only to have the food scarfed down in less than 10-15 minutes. I know that it is relaxing and enjoyable for many but it is not my cup of tea. But I need to and want to eat healthy so I needed a plan. In the past I have tried Blue Apron and Hello Fresh. Although it basically saves you from shopping, all the other elements that I do not like remain. So, I tended to eat out a lot, not sit down restaurants, but nonetheless food that was not the healthiest or inexpensive. Recently I remembered that there is a local Mom who has a company called Entrée Kitchen in Carol Stream (just 20 minutes from Geneva). I had ordered from them many years ago and enjoyed the freshness, simplicity and taste of the meals. I got back in touch and have now been ordering regularly since October 2024. I now spend anywhere from 1 minute (crockpot meals) to about 20 minutes in the kitchen per meal and I am eating flavorful and...
Read moreI only gave one star because you cannot give zero stars. We went to Entrée Kitchen for a cookie decorating event for the kids. They charged $40 for two dozen cookies and a "buffet" that consisted of over cooked pasta and terrible pizza (subjective). The cookie decorating was only some store bought icing and sprinkles. No supervision, or any staff interaction of any kind.
The icing on the cake was the fact that the owner's family's kids were there running around like it was their house. It was extremely disrespectful to have family running around while you had your overcharged customers there.
The entire experience was awful. I wouldn't go back if it were free.
The Entrée Kitchen felt like the owner's hobby, not a business. Even Mrs Clause was an unprofessional joke. Mrs. Clause was sitting at the table eating, freaking out my kid. She couldn't go in the back, so she would not have to eat in front of the kids? Like I said, I could go on. I'll wrap it up. The food, the staff, the entire experience - all of it, awful.
My wife overhead the owner say, "We didn't get nearly as many people this year as we did last year." Now,...
Read moreI feel compelled to share our family's Christmas cookie decorating experience in suport of this wonderful place. We had a very different experience than the reviewer below. To sum it up, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! My 19-month old daughter even got in on the fun; decorating a few cookies and then promptly taste testing her creations. Everything is well prepped for us families to just come in and decorate at our own stations. My kids loved working with all the different sprinkle and frosting options. As for the owners son running around, that was not happening, at least that we saw. We actually sat next to him while we ate dinner. He had been helping his mom prep all day and was very sweet and well mannered. I can't imagine him running around wild. Food is served buffet style and was quite good. As I saw it, the dinner portion is really just a side note as you are there for cookie decorating and to see Santa. Pizza, meatballs, fruit salad etc. Santa and Mrs. Claus visit was the cherry on top of an already fun evening. All in all, Entree Kitchen provided a fun family night for our family and we will be...
