On our way to New Orleans, my husband and I discovered a billboard for Desi Dhaba and were instantly excited and curious. We decided to make a spontaneous detour and have lunch there, which turned out to be an excellent decision. The restaurant truly captured the essence of an authentic Indian roadside dhaba, and it exceeded our expectations in every way.

As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the vibrant sounds of Indian music, which immediately transported us to the bustling streets of India. The decor was tastefully designed, with traditional elements such as khatia (Indian bed) and a hammock, further enhancing the ambiance and authenticity of the place.

We eagerly placed our order, opting for the tandoori pomfret, garlic naan, rice, daal makhani, and gulab jamun. To our delight, they surprised us with complimentary spicy tea, which turned out to be an absolute delight for our taste buds. The portion sizes were incredibly generous, and despite our best efforts, we couldn't finish everything. The restaurant provided takeout packaging, and we savored the leftovers in our hotel room in New Orleans.

Beyond the yummy food, we also appreciated the opportunity to spend some quality time at the dhaba. We took a break from our journey, allowing ourselves to relax and rejuvenate after our delicious meal. The girl at the counter was particularly attentive, taking the time to inquire about our food and tea, further adding a personal touch to our visit.

Overall, our experience at Desi Dhaba was nothing short of fantastic. The food was delectable, the atmosphere was immersive, and the service was top-notch. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and have already decided to visit again in the near future. Desi Dhaba, in Winnie TX, is apparently a new Indian restaurant capturing the essence of Indian roadside restaurants with authentic flavorful spicy food and drinks. The ambiance and music give goosebumps and remind you of an actual dhaba. The food is tasty and they are offering a vast amount of food at a reasonable price. We ordered "Tandori Chicken" with Garlic Naan and "Kadai Goat" with Jeera rice, both delicious.

The waiting time to get the food is 45 minutes-1hour and it is already mentioned on the menu board and they also let you know. But the problem is the poor organization and cleanliness. We went there on a weekend night and only 4-5 people were working inside with a lot of oncoming customers. And it felt like the employees were at a loss to manage the food delivery. They served us the "Tandori Chicken" without the naan and we had to wait 50 minutes for it and they even lost our order for the Kadai Goat-Rice. Frankly, I don’t mind waiting, but if you are serving some food, either give the whole combo or make us wait for the whole order.

And about cleanliness, the customers are supposed to clean their own. However, I saw one employee cleaning the table with a used napkin left by some customers. This is not hygienic at all.

I would’ve given 5 stars even if for the waiting and misplaced order, because of the food being so delicious, but the cleaning thing made me...

Ill be having my childs Bday celebration Here! My family decided to dine-in here and we had a blast! We ordered Pomfret tandoori fish, butter nan. The Food was full of flavors and rich spices....it was amazing! It was New years eve and we arrived around 10:30p.m. Before on arrival you see Desi Dhaba very decorative and has beautiful lighting from the outside , you can see lovely family's enjoying the place. Fire pits with laughter. Kids being kids with no worries, dude they have a small zip line for kids! That's so B.A. They had a beautiful fireworks display through the night! Inside dining was cozy like rosy[relaxing] Our server who's name starts with an S was full of hospitality and was very helpful a very humble and well mannered man. We talked to the Owner and he was a very Respectable and passionate man for his customers, employees, and for his career he's established...... and his DELICIOUS FOOD! WE Felt loved and excepted by staff. It was the BEST new years I've ever had FR. I never write Reviews I'm not that type of guy; So that should tell you alot..FOR all those ppl who leave bad reviews yall have fun wasting your money on McDonalds(wich I would give no stars too or wouldn't leave a review for anyway....
