Blue Check Deli — Restaurant in Woodbridge

Update 5/15/24: decided to give Blue Check another chance and ordered a breakfast sandwich. It was delicious. I added avocado and roasted peppers. The bacon was cooked properly, and the sandwich was super yummy. I also ordered a sausage and peppers grinder which comes with marinara & cheese. I even asked if marinara came with it when I ordered and they said yes. I also requested basil be added. I received the grinder with no basil and no marinara so that was a miss for me as the grinder is dry without any sauce.

Ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Egg was overcooked. No cheese. Bacon was chewy and undercooked.

Decided to try the breakfast buddy potatoes with sweet and salty bacon and cheese thinking it would be a nice compliment to the breakfast sammys. Potatoes were drenched in oil yet had no flavor. Bacon was undercooked and soggy and had no discernable "sweet and salty" flavor. Low quality shredded cheese was barely melted over the top. Threw away 2 orders in disgust after only 1 bite.

Overall, I was very disappointed. The employees tee-shirts and hats advertise a "healthy deli" yet nothing about the food is healthy. I noticed an exciting sounding "Spartan Potato" which is described as mashed potatoes served crispy with toppings but after trying the horrible breakfast potatoes, I don't think I'll want to try the Spartan potatoes. EXPENSIVE. 20.00 for a tuna on a hard roll, lettuce, tomato, 1 slice of American cheese and an order of french fries. Each item has a charge, $1.00 for 1 slice of cheese, separate charges for tomato and lettuce. He charged me $20. and at first I thought the man was kidding around because I was holding a $20 bill! The prices and menu are not working on their website. The sign prices were not brought up to date yet. Stuck up under the sign was a paper ripped out of a note book and hand written in black marker that the prices have gone up due to the increase of food prices. Ask before you order. The tuna was pretty good, the hard roll was fresh but nothing special. I really was shocked enough to ask if that was a mistake! The man said that is what it costs now to get take out. That is when he pointed out the hand written sign to me. The food is decent but the price is off! The fries were very greasy and didn't taste very good, I could only eat a few. Blue Check Deli is a fantastic spot for a quick, delicious bite. Their sandwiches are packed with fresh ingredients, and they offer a great variety to choose from. I highly recommend their turkey avocado club—the flavors are spot on, and the bread is always perfectly toasted. The sides, like their house-made potato salad, are a nice bonus too.

The staff is friendly and service is quick, making it a go-to for lunch. However, one area they could improve on is the portion size for the price. While the food is great, I feel like the sandwiches could be a bit bigger given the cost.

Overall, Blue Check Deli is a solid choice for a tasty meal, but I’d love to see a bit more value in the portion sizes. Still, I’ll be coming back for that...
