We've been here a few times since moving into the area several years ago. The pizza has always been very good - in fact our boys have had the chance to make their own pizza's as part of a cub scout event (that was back when my oldest was in scouts).
We've had carryout several times and when we had a birthday party at the arc, I ran across the street to grab some pizza's - actually I did drive just because I was alone and getting the Pizza's as well as some plates and plasticware.
This is my wife's favorite pizza joint, so we recently went here to celebrate. It was Sunday and around 5PM. The place was packed with a 30 minute wait. We stuck it out and got seated, moved, then seated back at the original table - some mix up with the seating but no big deal as it was before we ordered anything.
The 16oz beer was good and the soft drinks they bought out pitchers after the first round probably to save time from running back for refills. There were six of us and two had root beer (the boys) and the wives drank cola while myself and the other hubby had beer.
We had a large (14") pepperoni for the boys, family size (16") sausage for the adults and my wife wanted to try the double decker with sausage, olives and mushrooms. We also had mozzarella sticks and garlic bread with cheese while we waited on the pizza. I felt the appetizers are bit pricy for what you are getting.
Overall the appetizers were 17.25, for a one topping 14" and one topping 16" it was 46.25, for the three topping 14" double decker it was 30.50. Pitcher of soda 10.75, 6.25 for my 16oz beer and 5.00 for my friends beer. A sub total of 116.00 for four adults and two children. That's pre-tax and pre-tip. Overall I'd say we spent roughly $21 per person after tax and depending on the tip you leave that amount will be higher.
The wait was worth it as this is some of the best pizza in the area in my opinion although tonight it seems they go the pepperoni perfect but the sausage and double decker probably could have spent just a few more minutes in the oven - still good, just not that 'perfect'...
Read moreThe service with the staff is terrible! I hate to have to rate a long-time establishment that I have been coming to for over 15 years poorly, but after today’s visit, they will be receiving only the truth. I ordered two pizzas one being a family thin with sausage and pepperoni w/one-half onion and another large pizza with chicken and jalapeño nothing else, when I arrived to pick up the order I noticed that the order was not correct the young lady who took my order did not follow directions clearly and doesn’t care how she treats customers very unprofessional in my opinion to go back and forth with a me on what I asked for was very unprofessional. Do you treat all your African American customers this way? She told me that I ordered the chicken special and didn’t correct her when she repeated herself, first off a customer can only assume a special is what I requested when I stated chicken with jalapeño, not chicken, jalapeño, onions, and pineapple. Then for her to get upset with me like I ordered the pizza wrong. I would believe I know how I like my pizza. It would only make sense for the Customer Rep taking my order to ask probing questions if she didn't understand something and then write down the order as it is spoken to her. I won’t be back to Papa’s Pizza until they get their attitudes corrected. Additionally, for the manager Connor who called me and my phone went dead on him, when I called back only a few minutes later he was already gone, that told me he didn't want to handle the situation in the first place. Papa's establishment should be ashamed. I guess the deliveries that Connor needed to make were more important than my situation, as if I am not a customer. Poor customer service, not very impressed with the people they have working here not a very friendly...

-Breaded cauliflower 5 - cauliflower was not overly fried. It’s actually very juicy when you bite into them. You can eat them with or without the sauces. It’s good either way. -Beef N’ Cheese 5 - I love how the cheese is melted into the beef. It gives it a more savory flavor. Beef was moist and succulent. Bread was sturdy and didn’t fall apart easily. Definitely one of the best Italian beefs I’ve had in Illinois. Good portions.

I came here for my first time and it didn’t disappoint. I actually found out about this place through some Fb pizza forum. We decided to come here to eat before going to Hollywood blvd. When you walk in, there is a carry out only section to the right and dine in option on the left though the door. We were seated immediately. It did take awhile for our server to come and take our order. They are family run and I believe a little short staffed. Once we got our order in, everything came out in a reasonable amount of time.
We ordered hot tea, garlic bread baked with cheese, Mama’s special - 12”, and the chicken dinner. The garlic baked with cheese is hands down on my top 3. The crust was crispy, had a plentiful amount of cheese, and it had a great cheese pull when you bite into it. Solid 5. The pizza was thin crust, the bbq sauce was very conspicuous with each bite, and the ingredients were fresh. I did like how crunchy the pizza was. I didn’t get a chance to get my girlfriend’s chicken but the fries were wonderful. They were seasoned perfectly and crispy. No one likes soggy or mushy fries. Despite the hiccup at the beginning, I will now add this to one of my go to places for pizza. I’ll have to try other items on the menu because they do have a...
