This place is AWESOME! A family-owned restaurant that serves fantastic food.
I was working in the area and saw this place listed. Saw the reviews. Saw the menu.
Enough "seen" --- I HAD to try.
I would have taken a picture of the meal beforehand --- but I was hungry and it was fresh and hot!
You'll have to suffer through my "clean plate club" picture.
Pancakes, eggs and bacon made to order! PERFECT!!
Their coffee was delicious and rich! Who needs "Corporate Coffee" when Granny's Kitchen is around.
I visited about 7:30ish AM or so and saw the local gentlemen having a group breakfast and knew it was going to be cool.
I asked if there really was a "granny" back in the kitchen-- and sure enough there was!
Making all her dishes with love!
I asked that she be told her breakfast was fantastic and I heard the message relayed: "A new guy says breakfast is fantastic."
Checking out, I asked: how did you know I was "a new guy"?
I was told: "because you came in and waited to be seated --- the regulars always come in and sit right down."
We chatted for a bit and was told granny was putting on a roast for lunch. I about passed out. I could only imagine how delicious THAT would be!!!
If I were to remain in town I would have taken lunch AND dinner there!
If I am ever in that area again --- I will DEFINITELY stop by for at least one meal.
Incredible food! Excellent...
Read moreI have heard about how good Granny's Kitchen is on many occasions, so I figured I'd go find out for myself. We went with friends who had made the recommendation. Now if you are looking for an upscale dining experience then go somewhere else, Granny's isn't it, however you will find a small, simple country style restaurant with a simple homestyle menu with really friendly service and friendlier prices. AND the mashed potatoes were real. Some sides are served in a separate styrofoam container, but many other places do also to manage costs. Granny's Kitchen doesn't look like much from within or without, but should you decide to go, do so and go early. Seating is limited and the waiting line can get quite long, like quitting time at the time clock. Aside from dine-in Granny's also offers takeout service (no deliveries). Finally, Granny's storeside parking area is quite small, but there is a large overflow lot behind the building. I read a review that compared Granny's food as trucker's or construction worker's food with negative overtones, but I personally have found that if you want good food...follow the trucks and dozers. Read moreI'm from Woodville. Haven't been there in 27 years.
We stop by Granny's and get some fairly simple orders. 2 orders of: eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon. 1 order of chopped steak, eggs, and hashbrowns. Waitress asks: how do you want your steak? Medium rare. Do you want onions? 2 NO and 1 Yes.
Food arrives: Steak: well done Hashbrowns: 2 with onions and 1 without. The one who wanted onions didn't get them. The 2 that didn't... did. Eggs: all 3 plates had different amounts of eggs. Visibly different.
Basically: No quality control.
When asked who was cooking, the response was... the owner.
I turned my hashbrowns in and said... I can't do the onions in the hashbrowns. She said are you sure? I said yes, and she took the plate.
No attempt to make the order right. No attempt to offer a discount.
The bill was brought out immediately afterward.
Very disappointed at the lack of customer service Very disappointed at the quality of the food. Very disappointed at the total apathy of the situation.
Please understand: I am paying for a meal. I want it done the way I asked for.
To the owner: From one business owner to another: Learn to make your customers happy, or you will not be in...
