Listons Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Worthington

Hi folks! It's time for another round of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly! record scratch Ok, let's try, the Good, the Really Good, and the Why Didn't We Try This Place Sooner?

I've been riding past Listons for 20 plus years. Recently it has gained new owners, and seems to be completely renovated!

Let's start with the staff. Friendly! Quick! Everything you could want from servers. You kind of want to invite them to hang out with you while you eat.

Atmosphere. Blissfully... Subdued. To look at the place, there are TV's and a jukebox, tons of people in a high ceilinged room... But you can actually hold a conversation, even on a busy Friday night! Then you notice the sound absorbing panels on the ceiling, and you get it. Every restaurant should follow Listons' lead.

The food! Our first trip, we had a chicken sandwich and a burger. For sides we went with tater tots and french fries. The burger was fantastic. Properly cooked, fresh beef, perfect.

Our second trip we did the burger again, and I tried the chicken skewers dinner. So much better than expected. Whatever marinade they're using, the chicken was delicious. Served with fresh green beans and the best freaking mashed potatoes ever. Pretty sure my cardiologist would have something to say about the amount of butter that was in them!

Some whacky bits: there seems to be one TV that runs nothing but Baywatch. The other TVs have nature documentaries, old westerns, and all kinds of random. And we discovered that Baywatch had a Hawaii based spin off. Who knew?

Prices are very good. Honestly, no complaints whatsoever. Ok, not a complaint, but a suggestion: put tater tots on the permanent menu!!

Let me just say we have been to Listons several times in the past Trucks,Bikes, and snowmobile the atmosphere is great especially since the update. I’m not one to complain in fact this is my first ,but I feel that I must , we were there on Sunday, place was busy but not crazy normal Sunday in September got seated right away ordered the drinks then time for the food order and this is where it went south I informed the waitress at the time of our order amongst other things (Liston Burger)and that I can’t have “Seeds” , Order shows up “Seeds” I say I can’t have seeds and I ordered without seeds she says no you didn’t but I can bring you some bread!!! Bread shows up un-toasted and this where it gets to the point of the crappy review . I say can’t you just toast the bottom of another bun so I can have a burger her reply “ The kitchen will get mad” my reply is I don’t care if they get mad I would like to have a burger without seeds because I can’t have them ,you can even charge me for it !!! She’s says the kitchen is too busy for that and they will get mad .So open faced burger it is .I don’t think she understood that kind of position she put the restaurant in or she didn’t care but she certainly didn’t care about what seeds could have caused ,even after I tried to politely inform her of . She just blew us off and went about her business.Will I go back probably because there isn’t much else out that way .maybe it’s because there’s not much else out that way is why they don’t have to care . !! Ether way not the way to do business especially one that serves food....

Update 12/27/24..WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! We love this spot, always have but we will not be back for awhile. We went to sit at the bar and there was only one seat. The server offered us a table that we could sit at and as soon as two seats were open at the bar she would move us. Well two seats opened, 2 people walked in and they got the seats. When we asked the server she went to the bartender/owner and she lied, she didn't tell her what she promised us so they offered us no resolution. We were very upsey over this and left. I even spoke to the owner who offered nothing and stood by the lying server.

Great little spot. The drink specials are perfect and the food is always good. Update: get lots of locals in here and we are starting to be a regular. They were out of a few things today and the food was not as good as it usually is but still a great SPOT. UPDATE April 7 2024 still a great spot. We truly love going here. Only thing I can say is, to check the pricing on the drinks before you order them, cocktails are priced high for a spot that has always had fair pricing. Next time I will...
