First off, this review is less about the food and more about the management of the business. I purchased a catering package for close to $300 to feed about 15 people. I was happy with the price and what was included. However, my group ā who are all fans of the Tortilla Factory ā last minute wanted to dine in so they could purchase alcoholic beverages with their meal.
I contacted the restaurant and asked if we could simply sit at a table and eat the catered food family-style. I made it clear I wasnāt asking for staff service ā weād use paper plates, plastic utensils, and I was even willing to pay more if needed. The answer was a flat no. No matter what I offered, I was told this went against policy an no flexibility was offered.
At this point, the conversation made no sense. I had already paid $300, was offering to spend more, and was bringing in a group of people who all planned to buy cocktails. If each person ordered just two $10 drinks, thatās another $300 in revenue ā a total of $600. Despite my repeated efforts to give them more $$$, they refused to work with me.
So I canceled the catering order and got a refund. I was nervous about calling another restaurant last-minute, but the first one I contacted was thrilled to host us, and we were all accommodated with no issue, as it should be because who in their right mind would turn away such a large piece of business?
Hereās my bottom line: if Iām offering to give you my money, I expect you to want it and provide at least some basic service in return. The Tortilla Factory failed to do that ā and likely turned away their biggest transactions of the week, if not the month. If they canāt manage that, what else are they missing and what can you expect your next experience to be like? Good luck to you if you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet Me Start by Saying " This is My Opinion " based on my experience. " No Bueno " ! Starting from the door with all the signs stating "Please be Patient with for being slow with service, we're understaffed. Thanks to those that showed up ??? In this establishment the Customer Is Not , I say Again Not always Right I see a bunch of empty tables in the Bar area and got sit down and get confronted by the Bartender that I can't sit there because it's only for drinking. Not for drinking and Eating, waitress not available to serve that area, What the Heck ! I'm told Where They want me to sit, "Me the Customer " I walk towards the main dining area point to a booth and š„..... wait for it, "You can't sit there cause it's Dirty"! Ok,so I sit in the next booth over. Covid protocol, yeah right . None of the waitstaff wear gloves when serving food or drinks, including the alcoholic ones. 1st impressions are very valuable, an appearance is number one. Tucking in shirts so as not to show the gut hanging out is I think š¤important. The Food, I had the Chicharron Gordita and beef Gordita šš©. The menu is deceiving, below the Gordita options it states " one Gordita includes : rice, beans, guacamole and cream If you order 2 gorditas you have to pay extra per item, what tha heck. I verified it with the manager and he wouldn't budge that was the law and no if ands or butts about it. If I was young (Im 69) and had good strong teeth I would of eaten the raw pork rinds Gordita. I didn't know cause I've never been to a restaurant that doesn't cook them in tomato sauce. The gorditas meat was lacking in taste unless you added the chip salsa. I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start by saying that this review encompasses multiple visits both during the height of the pandemic and now. I would also like to say that I will be returning. This restaurant, to me, is one of those one trick pony kind of places. What I mean by that is a type of restaurant that is REALLY good at a handful/single dish or aspect of that dish and kind of just okay in everything else. For example, IHOP has really good pancakes but their burgers are just okay, not bad, but okay. The strength of this place and the reason I continue to patronize them is their crispy tortillas. Sure they serve burritos, chimichanga, and enchiladas, and after having all three of these I would be hard pressed to taste a significant difference between them. I have honestly gone just for the chips and salsa, and taco salad (it comes in a deep fried tortilla). I have on more than one occasion taken home bags of chips and soup bowl sizes of salsa. I think this may be due to the tortilla being more of a center part of the dish rather than a wrapper. That being said, I am not mexican and did not grow up eating this type of food and cannot speak to its authenticity or how good it is to the standard. All I have is my novice asian tongue. So if you are planning to go here, I would say get what you want, and see how you like it, but give the taco salad and chips & salsa a spin for sure. Don't forget to take some home. *Tip: If you get the largest salsa take home get more than one...
