I was born and raised in Yabucoa, but went to the USA in 1991. With that being said, the name originally was "El Horizonte" and has always been a popular restaurant. As of 3/28/2024 I took my wife and kids to "El Nuevo Horizonte ", and we had a beautiful time there. The food was delicious and the view was breathtaking. The patio overlooks the ocean and the breeze up there is really nice 👌. My wife had "mofongo con camarones" which is mashed plantains with shrimp (it's delicious), I had yellow rice with ribs and my kids had white rice and beans and I gave them some of my ribs. Everything here is delicious. The empanadillas (empanadas) are really good with different flavors such as shrimp, fish, octopus, meat, etc... When I go back to PR we will definitely come back to El Nuevo Horizonte. Espero que con el tiempo tenga la dicha de mudarme otra vez a mi amado Puerto Rico, lo cual es nuestro deseo. Dios...

El Nuevo Horizonte specializes in Puerto Rican seafood dishes yet had a varied enough menu that my daughter found her favorite Pasta Alfredo. The Asopao de Langosta (puertorican lobster "stoup") left my grandpa speechless. The Ensalada de Mariscos (seafood salad) was just as mouthwatering. Portions are quite generous so be prepared to pay $$$. Each of the aforementioned dishes were $30+ and worth every penny.
Adjacent to the main, sit-down restaurant is a more casual kinda spot that offers drinks and fried snack/appetizers. We tried the pastelillos de Langosta (OMG!) and the surillitos de maiz which were so good we had to get a 2nd round!
This place is a must visit for sure. We plan to return...
Read moreWe went as a group of four. My cousin & husband (which are both Puerto Ricans) my wife and I (I am Puerto Rican and my wife Caucasian/white). We always speak a mix of Spanish and English. As we approached the counter we were speaking in English, the young lady at the counter rolled her eyes at us and was not pleasant at all. Even my Puerto Rican cousin, said what's is wrong with her. We sat at a table, the food, beer and views were great. A different waitress came to the table and got us more drinks and what not. She was great and friendly. 2 stars for service, since the 2nd waitress was great. The young lady at the counter needs to realize, money is green don't matter who's spending it. Probably won't be back, since speaking in English was...
