It's been MANY YEARS since I have stopped at the BAGDAD Cafe... But the time when we did stop, we got greeted with friendly folks and got drinks but no food... The reason we didn't get food, was we had just eat before we arrived at the cafe... If I had not just eaten, I would have ordered... As we were there, we talked with the owner and other folks and one that always comes to mind is the guy they called GENERAL BOB... General Bob was quite the character... He had lived in the desert his whole life and he and his wife he said worked for the CIA, underworld protection agency, and a few other places... Though he was entertaining and interesting to talk with I thought maybe General Bob had been left out in the desert soaking up way too much sun... Though, his stories seem to be far-fetched, he was still a pleasure to talk with... At the time when we visited there was a run-down Motel to the left of the cafe if you were standing in front of the cafe on Route 66... I see now, from pictures others have taken since I've been there that Motel is completely gone, and the huge water tank is gone as well from outback... I would imagine the cafe is in need of repair as I'm sure people don't spend a ton of money there and as you know a lot to be desired for the area... Buddy and I are planning on a motorcycle trip to California this June, and I plan on taking him by there to just stop in and experience THE BAGDAD...

Read moreIf you enjoy eclectic restaurants then this is the place for you Signs, notes, picture, flags, and even music devices are hung on the wall from all the individuals who have visited this cafe
Only 2 maybe 3 people work there, so please be mind and patient; whereas their job is the: Cook Waitress Cashier Electrician Plummer Hostess Roofer
You name it and they run the entire restaurant all by themselves
They also live on, or about 1/4 down the road from the property (very common for the caretakers of route 66 stops to live on or near the stops)
Great charming people, but they are desert people, so city people be warned you are in for an interesting character
Because the place is out in the middle of no where sometimes their credit machine does not work or works slow.
BRING CASH TO HELP OUT THE BUISNESS.
It is originally used as just a pit stop on Route 66, but now it became a more modern tourist attraction.
I officially have 2 notes posted on the wall from my visit
My brother adopted his dog from an individual who lived about 1/2 down the road because the dog needed a better hone because the old owners could not make ends meet and feed the dog
He adopted that dog because we decides to visit Bagdad Cafe and check out the surrounding area.
Now him I visit the location every New Years Day to celebrate a tradition of...
