Country Rose Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Yorkville

First and last time coming here for food. I've lived in the area for about 6 years now and this was the first time trying Country Rose. Walked in with my daughter to have a late breakfast and it just felt odd from the start. It seemed like all eyes were on us as if the place was strictly for known, dedicated, returning customers. The dining area is pretty nice, well kept with great looking decor and with a good atmosphere to be able to have conversation. The place wasn't super busy but it took a little bit for a server to come over, greet us and start us off. I had the breakfast burrito and my daughter had the cinnamon swirl french toast. $12 and $8 respectfully but that's all you get as any sides are all separate. Waited a half hour for our food to be served while people seated after us were already being served ( I understand not every order is the same and things cook faster or longer depending on what you order but this was a burrito with eggs, avocado, cheese, onions and an order of french toast ).Noticed that the other customers were greeted with the option for coffee after seated before placing their initial drink/food order but that option wasn't presented to my daughter or myself. Not once did our server attempt to come back by after our food was served to see if anything else was needed or if everything was good. The food was good but the overall personal experience made us feel like we were not welcomed there and almost like we were outcasts or drifters. This place is true hidden gem. I needed a cake last minute and I asked at a gas station where I should get one. I was recommended here. The cake was beautiful AND delicious. I have been back for breakfast several times now and it’s always killer! The biscuits and gravy are on point. There is window seating with bird feeders! Everything in the pastry case is beautiful and really hard to walk by with a straight face. The assortment box of Christmas cookies was the BEST Christmas cookie assortment I have ever purchased, a must have now every season!! The staff is kind, friendly, attentive and very patient. We order lunches for meetings from here periodically. They have always taken great care of us, including for our meeting this past week. I arrived at the set time, and the food was ready to go, conveniently packed in a nice box for easy transport! They even labeled each person's containers with their names and what was in them. Even the supplemental bags that contained dressings, bread, etc. had names on them! We are always happy with the food we get!
