Everyone who is leaving 5 star reviews for this place must not have any taste buds. The owner of this place is not a very nice person. He is the owner of the little factory across the street from his hot dog stand. He couldn't keep people. He was mean and nasty. He didn't even pretend to care about his employees. Now he's selling hotdogs with a special sauce. The sauce has no taste except for being spicy hot. The fries are pitifully grease and have a bit of taco seasoning on them. Go look at FB. When someone posts a really bad review, he tries to have it removed. Even on here, you can see what kind of person he is. When someone orders chili and cheese fries, there should be enough to cover the fries. When someone posts about it, he says that he doesn't understand the problem. They have messed up orders, and when you go right back to get it fixed, he started to yell and threatened to call the police. Happened to my neighbor. Read more about it on Facebook. How can he claim that items on the menu are "homemade". When there's empty cans in the dumpster. I know that this review will not change anything. Please, people, do a bit of homework as to who you're supporting with your business. He's not worth it, and the food is definitely not at all worth it. Edit: Why do you block people who don't leave 5-star reviews on Facebook? What are you trying to hide? Could it be the fact that the food you sell is horrible. There was a dumpster on that property, and a former employee took pictures of the empty cans of "homemade" food. That's why they are former employee. I have never worked for you. Life is too short to deal with a...
Read moreI've been driving by here often and wondered what was going in here and a few months ago I read the article about ti being a hotdog stand, drive thru only. The owner wanted to take his Moms Chilli Recipe and make it public! I must say, the Chilli is the Bomb. Great thickness, taste, the little bit of kick it has in it, definitely blows all others way. Including the Original Hot Dog Shop in Warren, Ohio. Unfortunately since the Hot Dog Shop has sold, their Hot Dogs have shrank in size, no flavor and the original chilly sauce has gone down the drain as well.
The Hot Dogs here at Heck Ya are real sized, real, fresh, and use normal sized buns as well. I didn't get to try the fries, but that will be the next time through. They have some interesting Dogs on the menu, which im definitely going to have to try as well.
Prices for these dogs and items on their menu is fair price and definitely worth trying out if your in the mood for some Hot Dogs
My server was Bill W at the window, I'm not sure if he's the owner, but one HECK of a guy! Polite, kind, definitely knows how to treat people! The Hot Dogs were placed with care and pride into the carry put boxes, not that Styrofoam packaging.
They just opened and started up, so give them some time, they may not be moving at the light of speed at the moment, but as I stated above awesome dogs and sauce!!
If you are in the mood, drop in at Heck Ya and order up, you won't be...
Read moreFull disclosure: I am friends with the owner. That being said, when he told me he was opening his own hot dog shop I was happy for him but was partial to 'Jay's Famous Hot Dogs' whenever I was hungry for a hot dog. (I'm also friends with the owner of Jay's as well) A mutual friend of ours happened to come in from out of town and suggested we have lunch at 'Heck Ya! Hot Dogs' as neither one of us have visited the restaurant (drive thru actually) yet and thought it'd be nice to surprise the owner as he hasn't seen our mutual friend in over 30+ years. We got there and the friendly reunion was very nice. We ordered our hot dogs with no expectations, and sat down together (no seating as it's drive thru only but the owner sat us at a table behind the building) and dug into our dogs.
Wow...
WOW!!!
I was genuinely BLOWN AWAY by the chili sauce and the hot dogs themselves. Being so devoted to 'Jay's Famous' over the years, I had no expectations but I genuinely found a hot dog chili sauce that SURPASSES the Youngstown institution's famous chili sauce, hands down. The seasoned french fries are delicious and the lemonade is made with real lemons and pure cane sugar.
The ONLY complaint I have is that they don't have a Boardman location... yet! 'Heck Ya! Hot Dogs' is a MUST VISIT for something different than the usual burger and chicken joint. Trust me, you will not be...
