13k for a very delicious bowl of banh canh with fish, a thickened (broth) noodle soup a bit like Japanese udon. There are chopped herbs, fried shallots, some sliced fish cake, and a few pieces of semi dried fish inside. If you want extra side toppings, you can add on a bowl of extra toppings for another 13k. There may also be plain banh mi you can use for dipping for 3k.
If you don't like spicy, kindly let the lady serving you know before she makes you a bowl. Otherwise, she will add chili oil. I liked the chili oil as it provided good balance to the dish, but not everyone eats chile. It packs a good punch along with the peppercorns. There are even more spicy red chiles on the table.
This place is a longstanding restaurant institution catering mainly to locals. Similar to a cafeteria experience, you line up to order and carry the food to your table. They serve hundreds (maybe thousands according to some Google reviewers) of people. We were so happy to go when they opened a little after 2pm. Lots of locals were eating multiple bowls. I can imagine it being incredibly busy during peak hours. Must try dish! So very delicious....
Read moreThe food is incredible. It’s tricky to find - We ordered a Grab car and our driver also had difficulty finding the restaurant lol but it’s worth going to! When you get there, ordering is confusing - we still have no idea what happened or how you’re supposed to order lol. There wasn’t a menu or anything we could see, but we went up to the counter and someone handed us a bowl of soup. Next to her were lots of extra bowls with quail eggs and fish cakes, so we grabbed one of those and sat down. It was The BEST banh canh I’ve ever had - easily could’ve eaten 4 more bowls, especially since the portions are on the lighter side. For two bowls and the bowl of quail eggs and fish cake, we paid about 40,000 vnd (less than $2 usd)! One of the best meals so far in Vietnam- would come back to da nang...
Read moreMaking the restaurant's reputation must include the quality and taste of the Vietnamese Bread soup bowl that gives diners the experience of eating here. Bread soup is served with shredded grilled scad and fish cakes. The noodles made from rice flour are kneaded by the owner himself according to his own recipe, so when cooking, the cake is not crushed but is a bit tough, soft and very attractive. The shop sells additional side dishes such as fish cakes, spring rolls, hot crispy bread and of course indispensable beverages such as sugarcane juice, soft drinks, etc. And the surprise is the price per bowl of Vietnamese Bread soup here. It's only 12,000 VND, very chestnut...
